Habitat for Humanity
Posted on May 8, 2011 by Ching under Things to Do.
Misty and I spent Friday afternoon volunteering at the Habitat for Humanity build site in South Wichita. Other than being too windy, the weather perfect.
Erin volunteered the same afternoon so we got to catch up with her.
We had a wonderful day painting. We managed to get it all over ourselves, though. All I can say is, I’m glad I didn’t get my nails done recently. =P

Cinco de Mayo

Amie looked really cute on Cinco de Mayo.
Our post Zumba pic. The weather was absolutely perfect.
Brian and Stephanie outside Felipe’s West Central.
Stephanie and Gina Ann at the restaurant. Stephanie looks great again. Like she didn’t even workout. I don’t know how she does it. She gets sweaty and gross from Zumba and then, two seconds later, she’s all done up again. It’s completely magical.
Misty and Brian.
Stephanie, Amie and Gina Ann.
Rick and Amie. What a great-looking couple!
Other than the food taking forever and the restaurant running out of rice, we had a great time. Nothing like a post-Zumba pig-out session!

Water for Elephants

Brian and Jay were great sports and went to see Water for Elephants with the girls.
After the movie, we all went to the Vagabond. Brian and I had only been there once, after our massages at Bohemia. None of the others had ever been there. It’s actually a cozy little coffee bar. The prices are good too. Better than Starbucks.
I wish Cory could have joined us. I don’t think he wanted to see Water for Elephants, though. LOL. BTW, Jay was really funny. After sitting there for ten minutes, he totally went back to his car and grabbed his laptop so he could “fit in” with the other coffee bar patrons. I don’t think it worked, though. We still managed to stand out. =P

Date Night with the Dills

We were supposed to see Fast Five at the IMAX on Sunday, but the show was completely sold out by the time we got there. Since we were already out West, and we’re rarely ever in the area, we decided to stop by Under the Cork (FREE wine tastings; Need I say more?) and Borders and hang out for a while before heading over to Jay and Becca’s (armed with a few bottles of wine) to drown our sorrows away. I think Jay was most disappointed about missing out on Fast Five out of all of us. Sorry, Jay!
We made the most of the evening by watching Life as We Know It (I know, it’s no comparison) instead. Not a bad movie, but it’s no Fast Five.
P.S. Jay’s chicken quesadillas were awesome as always!

Brian and I had fun on Saturday. We started the day out by working out for a couple of hours. I did my regular step class at Andover YMCA and then Gina Ann’s Zumba class at East Central Genesis. Misty did the class with me. After Zumba, Misty, Brian and I went to the Artichoke. Brian’s ex-girlfriend Danielle joined us.
Misty had a pedicure appointment that she had to make so she had to eat and run, pretty much. Danielle came over and hung out for a bit after lunch. It gave her and Brian a chance to catch up. It also helped so that now she knows how to get to our place for fight night on Saturday.
After she left Brian and I got ready for the concert. We were meeting Doug and Tammy at River City Brewery for dinner before the show so we wanted to get to the restaurant by 6 pm. I’m glad we decided to have dinner early because downtown was still packed. The Cinco de Mayo celebration that started on Friday night continued through Saturday so parking was still very scarce. The fact that several schools were holding prom night only exacerbated the situation.
Dinner was not bad and pretty cheap, since Brian and I decided to just split chicken tenders. The cheap dinner made up for the mix up at the Artichoke earlier that day (the waitress was out of it and accidentally ran Danielle’s bill on our card; we didn’t want to hassle with having her fix it and we figured that, since we were the ones who invited her to lunch, we might as well pick up the tab). And since we split our dinner, we had just the right amount of food. We were both stuffed and didn’t have any leftovers. It worked out perfect. Anyway, I’m sure you are eager to see some of the photos we took at the concert. Here’s a slideshow…
P.S. There are some videos posted on my YouTube. Feel free to check them out. 🙂
