Cindy’s 20th Service Anniversary
Posted on January 8, 2010 by Ching under Games.
We had a blast celebrating Cindy’s 20th service anniversary with the company at The Alley today. Isaac talked smack the whole week. He delivered, though.
He beat me the first game 145 to 111 and then I beat him the second game 149 to 129. However, he won based on the total number of pins. He knocked down 14 more than I did.
I was completely off today. My excuse is that we ended up on the cosmic bowling side and I could barely see. It wasn’t until the second game when I realized I had my eyeglasses in my purse and put them on. LOL.
I want a rematch! Until next time, Isaac.

Our New Racquetball Rackets
Posted on December 30, 2009 by Ching under Games, Health.
Our new racquetball rackets arrived today via FedEx. Hurrah!
Brian’s is the one on the left. It’s an Ektelon AirO Warrior racket that is 1900 power level. His racket is part of a racquetball kit that comes with matching safety glasses and three blue balls. He named it Winona.
Mine is the one on the right. It is also an Ektelon. Except it is the O3 Hybrid Rip, which is a 2300 power level. I think it has been discontinued because I can’t find it on the Ektelon web site any longer. That might explain why I got it on sale for $50 instead of $100, which was the regular price. I named my racket Manny, as in Manny haPacquiao (pun intended). I picked that name because I plan to hapak the ball really hard from now on. LOL.
I selected my racket out of all the racket options available because I think it is ideal for the type of player I am. According to the description on the web site, the racket I have is ideal for beginners who rely more on arm swing than a well-established fast wrist snap. That’s definitely me. Also, it’s supposed to give me more power without sacrificing control.
I’m really excited to take Manny for a spin. It’s a shame it will be a while before we get to play racquetball again because we’re going to be in Kansas City this weekend and then Brian is going to have his wisdom tooth pulled on Monday. I don’t expect that he’ll be able to play racquetball for a couple of days. Bummer.
For now, at least I can hold Manny and swing him around in the air while pretending to hit imaginary balls.

My Racquetball Mates
Posted on December 27, 2009 by Ching under Games, Health.
We had fun at racquetball today. We’ve got Jay and Ronnie (and maybe April, too?) completely hooked on racquetball. We’ve created racquetball monsters.
Ronnie showed up to racquetball today with a new racket, which he is yet to name. It’s not any old generic racket either. It’s an Ektelon Hybrid Hornet, which has a power level of 2400. It’s scary how much speed and power his hits carry now. You definitely do not want to get hit by that ball.
Exhibit B
Did I mention that we normally reserve multiple racquetball courts? This morning we had five court reservations going and we actually played racquetball for three hours (from 9 AM to noon). Sad to say, we are court hogs.
Exhibit C
We now have to wear eye protection when we play. Brian and I didn’t have to before. Playing with Ronnie and Jay completely changes things. We can no longer go on taking eye protection for granted. Brian knows this first hand, unfortunately.
Brian is a bit of a ball/accident magnet. Every time we play racquetball he gets hit at least a few times. Today both Ronnie and I got him good (at almost the exact same spot, too). The time before that he got hit half a dozen times at different parts of his body. And the time before that, Jay got him in the eye. Well, you all know that story.
P.S. Jay wanted me to blog about how he is so much better at racquetball now than when he first started playing racquetball with us. That was his request after beating me at racquetball twice today. LOL.

Ching Victorious at Bowl-Off
Posted on December 6, 2009 by Ching under Family, Games.
Brian and I had our bowl-off at The Alley. Mom and dad B came out to spectate.
Bree and Jan came out, too. They actually bowled with us.
Bree and David got along fabulously.
I have no idea how Bree left these three pins standing, but she managed to do it.
Bowling results: I won the first game, 151 to 92. Brian won the second game, 142 to 131. I won the third and final game, 119 to 111. Scores were crappy over all, but it didn’t matter because I just needed to beat Brian.
Basically, I won two out of three games and by total pin count. I think even if Brian won the third came, I still would have won based on the total pins. He would have had to beat me by 51 pins on the third game to take the pin count lead. That’s highly unlikely. LOL.
Brian wants to do a rematch. He still thinks he can beat me. He sure is persistent. I might just give him another shot at failing. LOL. I think we will pick a different venue next time, though. At $5 per game, the rates at The Alley are just too steep. Our little bowling excursion cost $60 for the four of us (three games each for the four of us and three shoe rentals – I have my own bowling shoes).
Our next bowl-off will likely be at Northrock Lanes. They’ve got an all-you-can-bowl special on Sundays from 12 to 2 PM for only $7 per person. The price includes shoe rental so it would only cost about $30 for four people to bowl.
We could also bowl in evening from 9 to 11 PM for only $6 (includes shoe rental). Hotdogs and drinks are only .50 cents during this time. You can’t beat that!
We will keep you guys posted on the date and time of the next bowl-off. Stay tuned.
