Brian decided that he would start P90X today. This is Brian doing P90X.
I really hope that there’s more moving than sitting around. LOL.

Ching’s 1st Time at Putt-Putt
Posted on August 1, 2010 by Ching under Date Ideas, Games, Things to Do.
I’m experiencing a lot of firsts in my 30s. I won’t list everything that I’ve done for the first time, because I’ll just bore you to death. Suffice it to say, I’m feeling and experiencing things I’ve never experienced before. And I thought my life would get more and more dull as the years pass. Definitely not the case.
A few years ago I got to experience going to the drive-in for the first time. It was a really neat experience. I’ve decided that I really like going to the drive-in. Athough, I find that I have to ignore all the other people because some people are strange.
The other night while we were there we saw a hefty woman wearing a cami and lounge pants. This wouldn’t have been so bad if her cami covered her stomach, but the cami proved to be too short and looked like a half-top on her. Her large belly was hanging out and made her stick out like a sore thumb. She could not be missed in the sea of people. Brian pointed her out to me when she walked by our car to go to the concession stand. I had to look away out of embarrassment. I was embarrassed for her. I would have wrapped up in a blanket or something.
“Maybe she’s pregnant,” I told Brian.
“That woman is not pregnant!” he insisted. “Maybe she was pregnant at some point. She definitely isn’t right now.”
Naturally, when Cory and April, and Jay and Becca showed up, they all pointed her out as well. You couldn’t miss her. It makes me think that if we started a People of Starlite web site, it would be serious competition for peopleofwalmart.com. LOL. I think the drive-in customer demographic is same as that of the Kansas State Fair. No offense to all the normal people who go to both events. Just sayin’…
Brian loves people watching. I think that is his favorite part of going to the drive-in. I like it for the value. You can’t beat three movies for $8. And, with the air mattress and several pillows, I can be completely comfortable. I know of only one place where you can lie down (somewhat) during the movie — the Director’s Suite at Old Town Warren. Also, the temperature was absolutely perfect the other night. We didn’t even need our blankets (we brought several because we’re nerds).
Anyway, I really wanted to tell you about my first putt-putt experience. It was still really hot at 5 PM but we had a lot of fun. Chad met us there so the three of us hung out (Jay and Becca couldn’t make it). As luck would have it, the Sheriff’s Department was doing a fundraiser: unlimited rides and miniature golf until 10 PM for $15 per person. What a deal! The only things excluded were the driving range, the batting cage, and arcade games.
Brian, Chad and I got to play both courses of miniature golf, ride go karts, and bumper boats. It would have cost a lot more to do all of those activities. I totally sucked at putt-putt, but it was so much fun. All though I came in last every time (Brian won the first round and Chad won the second), I would go again. Practice makes perfect, right?
Since it was still hot outside and we were hungry, we decided to take a dinner break at Fox & Hound. After dinner we returned for more putt-putt. The temperature had dropped some so it wasn’t as hot, but the mosquitoes were out. I got ate up pretty bad. Here are some of the pictures that we took yesterday.
By 9 PM we decided to call it quits and head back to our place for RB2. We evetually got bored with RB2 and moved on to Tekken, but Brian and Chad quickly got tired of me kicking their butts and wouldn’t let me play with them anymore. =P
Anyway, putt-putt was pretty fun. I’d probably go again before summer is over. All in all, I had a fantastic Saturday.

Brian is Going to Kill Me
Posted on August 1, 2010 by Ching under Life.
We were walking around Sam’s Club when, out of the Blue, Brian goes “I think we should get life insurance.”
“What do you mean?” I asked, “When I die, you will get money from my work.”
“Yes, but I worry about you.”
“I can take care of myself, baby.”
This was weird. We had talked about getting additional life insurance coverage aside from what is offered by our respective employers, but I was thinking this was ten years further down the road. At least until we’re in our 40s. I mean, we’re both healthy and everything.
This led me to ask, “Are you going to kill me?” I think the random question surprised Brian so I had to elaborate. “I mean, getting life insurance is what husbands do right before they murder their wives.”
“You watch too much TV,” Brian concluded.
He’s probably right. I am watching “Young, Beautiful & Vanished: 15 Most Unthinkable Crimes” on E! HD right at this very moment. I think I should stick to HGTV HD. LOL.

Buyer’s Remorse
Posted on July 31, 2010 by Ching under Life, Shopping.
I woke up in a cold sweat in the middle of the night on Thursday (Friday morning). I think it was a case of buyer’s remorse.
Brian and Jen (Teves) and I went to Black House White Market on Thursday night to look for a dress for me to wear to Carmen’s wedding. The sales rep was so nice. She picked out several dresses for me to try on. She even grabbed a couple of necklaces, a pair of spike-heeled shoes, and a belt to help me accessorize. She put all the stuff in the dressing room, changed some of the dresses for the correct size (I have to wear a larger size in WHBM; I think it might be dresses in general), helped me in and out of them, and was just all around helpful. She made me feel a bit like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. After all her trouble, I couldn’t bare to walk away without buying anything.
I liked all of the dresses that I tried on. Correction. I loved all of the dresses that I tried on. I could only get one due to my limited budget. I got the dress pictured above. Brian tried to rationalize the purchase by saying that the dress looked fantastic on me and that he thought that it actually cost more because of how great it looked. He felt it was a bargain at $180. LOL.
I can usually count on Brian to be the voice of reason. I wished that shopping that night would have gone something like this:
“I like this one.”
“How much is it?”
“It’ll probably be around $180 with tax.”
“That’s too much, baby.”
“Okay. I will just wait for it to go on sale then.”
I was counting on Brian to pull the breaks, but I think that the normal Brian took a vacation or something and an impostor took his place. Shopping totally did not go as I expected. I think I want the pragmatic Brian back.
“Why didn’t you stop me?” I asked Brian the next day.
“It looked good on you and you wanted it.”
“But it was a lot!”
“You’ve spent that much on a dress before.”
“Yes, but it’s been YEARS!”
I was really awful in our credit card days. Not quite as bad as the girl in Confessions of a Shopaholic, but pretty close. It’s funny how when I didn’t have any money, I just charged stuff that I wanted but couldn’t really afford without any care or remorse. Now that I have some extra money, I don’t want to spend it. LOL. Brian and I have been really frugal ever since we got rid of all of our credit cards. We decided we never want to be in debt ever again.
The dress purchase, even though I really like it and Brian thinks it looks great, was a departure from our frugal ways and quite frankly a little frivolous. I’m going to need to work harder at resisting temptation in the future. Remind me to stay away from WHBM for a while. =P
Here are some of the dresses that I’d worn to weddings in years past.

I’m sure there are tons of other pictures, but I’m too lazy to sort through the 30,000 in my Flickr photostream. I’m going to have to label these pictures better in the future.
P.S. I thought I could get more mileage out of the WHBM dress by wearing it to all three weddings that I have to attend in the coming months. Mom who is a major clotheshorse said that would be a bad idea because then I wouldn’t be able to tell whose wedding it was by looking at old pictures. When I was looking through my pictures online, I realized that she had a point. The only reason I knew which weddings were which was because I remembered the dress that I wore (see pictures above). Right then I thought, I need to go buy two more dresses! Thankfully pragmatic Brian was back from his vacation and told me to wear the same dress (there’ll be a different group of people at each wedding so it’s not like they’ll notice I wore the same dress more than once — not that there’s anything wrong with that) and just make sure I label the pictures. Voila! I’ll know whose wedding it was without having to rely on what I wore. Sounds good to me!

Just Add Ice Orchids
Posted on July 28, 2010 by Ching under Life.
For those of you who want your very own Penelope, Dillons has orchids for under $10. I was tempted to buy my plant a friend to keep her company the other day.
P.S. Mom, I think it’s time to give up on your flowerless orchid and just grab a new one. Maybe it won’t flower because you didn’t name it? LOL.
