Water for Elephants

Posted on May 8, 2011 by under Date Ideas, Movies.

Brian and Jay were great sports and went to see Water for Elephants with the girls.

After the movie, we all went to the Vagabond. Brian and I had only been there once, after our massages at Bohemia. None of the others had ever been there. It’s actually a cozy little coffee bar. The prices are good too. Better than Starbucks.

I wish Cory could have joined us. I don’t think he wanted to see Water for Elephants, though. LOL. BTW, Jay was really funny. After sitting there for ten minutes, he totally went back to his car and grabbed his laptop so he could “fit in” with the other coffee bar patrons. I don’t think it worked, though. We still managed to stand out. =P

Date Night with the Dills

Posted on May 4, 2011 by under Date Ideas.

We were supposed to see Fast Five at the IMAX on Sunday, but the show was completely sold out by the time we got there. Since we were already out West, and we’re rarely ever in the area, we decided to stop by Under the Cork (FREE wine tastings; Need I say more?) and Borders and hang out for a while before heading over to Jay and Becca’s (armed with a few bottles of wine) to drown our sorrows away. I think Jay was most disappointed about missing out on Fast Five out of all of us. Sorry, Jay!

We made the most of the evening by watching Life as We Know It (I know, it’s no comparison) instead. Not a bad movie, but it’s no Fast Five.

P.S. Jay’s chicken quesadillas were awesome as always!

Salsa Fridays with Brian and Ching

Posted on October 2, 2010 by under Date Ideas, Things to Do.

A couple of months ago, Brian took me out to dinner and dancing for our eighth wedding anniversary. It was a lot of fun. Shortly after we learned that some of Brian’s coworkers were into salsa dancing as well. We made plans to go out dancing again, but with others (instead of just the two of us) this time around.

We started the evening by getting dance instruction at the Harry Reese Dance Studio, and then we all went to Suede afterward to practice the moves we’d learned. Brian and I had a blast and agreed that we want salsa Fridays to be a regular thing. Except we haven’t been able to go in the last couple of weeks because things just kept coming up. Last weekend Tita Sol asked us to watch Molly while she was in Nebraska. We don’t get to watch Molly very often so whenever the opportunity comes up, we always cancel all of our plans and clear our entire schedule for to spend time with her. This weekend we’re out of town for Richard and Amy’s wedding.

I’m really looking forward to resuming salsa Fridays. I actually bought a couple of new dresses to wear to the club. I’m thinking we’ll be able to go this coming Friday, October 8. You all should come join us! Drop me a line (either in the comments section of this post, on Twitter/Facebook, or via email/text) if you’re interested and I will send you directions to both the dance studio and the club. See you all there!

I Can Dance!

Posted on September 20, 2010 by under Date Ideas, Things to Do.

On Friday Ching, myself and some friends from work went to Harry Reese Dance Studio for some lessons. We all had a lot of fun learning some of the more basic dance steps. Ching and I were a little bored because we were a little beyond the basics. But we still learned a few things. Like the fact that I suck at Salsa dancing.

After the lessons we all decided that we would go to.”Suede” a local club that plays salsa on Friday evenings. When we got there we all tried to SHOW OFF what we learned. That’s when I found out that I can MERENGUE! Who would have thought? LOL. Ching and one of the instructors George were picking on me because they said that anyone can MERENGUE. What they don’t realize is that before I met my wife, I never knew how to really dance. I could slow dance but that was it. Every time I learn something new with my wife, I feel like I have accomplished something great.

Honestly if it was not for my wife, I would not have experienced many of the things I have. I owe her a great deal in my life. More than I could ever repay.

If you find yourself bored on a Friday ninth and you want to learn how to dance, come to the lessons. Then come out with us after and have a drink and try out your new skills. It’s $5.00 per person and well worth the cost.
