Mom’s 53rd Birthday at Legends
Posted on October 9, 2007 by Ching under Family, Flickr, Food and Drink, Web.
Mom and dad treated the entire family to champagne brunch at Legends at Airport Hilton last Sunday to celebrate mom’s 53rd birthday. Thank you mom and dad!
Here are some of the pictures we took..
By the way, the CPDRC inmates are at it again with a new dance routine — Rico Mambo. This one is for you dad!
If this isn’t cruel and unusual punishment, I don’t know what is! LOL!

It’s Birthday Time
Posted on October 4, 2007 by Ching under Family, Life, School.
October is a huge month of celebrations for us. Mom’s birthday is October 6. I won’t say her age. Grandpa Clark turns 90 on the 12th, which also happens to be his wedding anniversary. And you all know that I turn 30 on the 30th. Man, I’m old!
We are celebrating mom’s birthday by having champagne brunch at Legends at the Airport Hilton on Sunday. Matt, Jennifer and the boys will be there as well. It should be fun.
Can’t have too much fun, though, because I have a Marketing exam on Monday. I will probably mark Saturday as my study day. I really don’t want to take Monday off because it is our busiest day of the week. Plus, I took a vacation day today to study for my Investments exam and don’t have too many days left.
Speaking of the Investments exam, it wasn’t as bad as I thought. I think I did okay. Hopefully I didn’t make too many careless mistakes. I hate mid-terms. I had this exam, Marketing on Monday, and then an exam in Cases in Finance the following week. One exam a week. I guess it could be worse. All three exams could happen in the same week. Yuck.
I’m looking forward to two weeks from now when these exams are done, but at the same time I’m not because that means projects will be due. I keep telling Brian that I just need to survive this semester because next semester I’ll only have one more class and I am finished. Yay.
Anyway, next weekend we are celebrating Grandpa’s birthday and their wedding anniversary. I think it will be either at Red Lobster or that Chinese buffet place by the mall. My vote is for Red Lobster. Not too fond of that Chinese buffet place. It’s not up to me, though.
Then it will be time for my birthday. Brian and I kind of slacked off on the planning. I guess it will be a quiet celebration. You don’t exactly want to call attention to the fact that you’re 30. LOL. Maybe he and I could drive to Legends Mall and spend the day there. That would be fun. I guess it will all depend on whether I will have time. Between homework and projects and work and everything else, there just hasn’t been time to do much of anything lately.
We did get to watch a movie yesterday, though. So that was a welcome break. I’ll tell you about that later because Brian wants to go to bed. Until next time.

Lay Off the Web MD
Posted on September 17, 2007 by Ching under Family, Life.
I woke up at four o’clock this morning due to severe chest pain. I thought I was having a heart attack. I ended up waking Brian up, much to his dismay. He said it was only heartburn. I never get heartburn, though.
It felt like there was a brick in my chest. It was like I wanted to burp but couldn’t but somehow I knew that if I burped or vomitted it would make me feel better. I really thought about trying to make myself gag with my fingers but then decided against it because that would just be too gross and painful. Then I coughed. I coughed a few times and white, cloudy phlegm came out. That actually made me feel better.
I was thinking that maybe my lungs were inflamed or something. On the up side the phlegm was white and not a gross green or yellow color. On the downside, I felt like I did when I had bronchitis minus the wheezing.
Brian rubbed some Vicks VapoRub on my chest. He figured that would help me breathe. It helped a little bit but it took a couple of hours before I could finally get back to sleep. Just as I started to doze off, the morning alarm went. I decided to call in a day of vacation and stay home. Brian and I agreed I could use the rest.
I slept until Brian woke me up around ten. The volume on my phone was set to super loud. It startled me. Anyway, I was going to go back to bed but after being abruptly woken up I decided to just stay up. I needed to read my book, Steve Kaplan’s “Bag the Elephant,” anyway. I need to get it finished by this week so I can write my report on it for Marketing Management. Of course, I ended up on Web MD instead of reading. That’s what people are prone to doing these days, thanks to our wonderful technology. You stay home sick, lay in bed and self-diagnose. When Brian called me up again, I was telling him I could have two things: angina or pleurisy. He said I had neither and promptly told me to get off Web MD. He said these web sites only fuel the paranoia of hypochondriacs. (more…)

Shoot ‘Em Up
Posted on September 16, 2007 by Ching under Family, Flickr, Movies.
Please don’t be misled by the categorization of this blog entry. Shoot ‘Em Up is by no means a family-oriented movie. Actually, I would not wish the movie upon anyone — adults or children alike. I have no idea why this movie didn’t just go straight to DVD. It was completely pointless and completely stupid and void of any actual acting talent. Paul Giamatti wasn’t too bad, but everyone else was horrible.
I enjoy a good action flick just like the next guy, but the movie has to be at least somewhat believable. Look at The Italian Job, the Bourne series.. These are good action films. Heck, even Grindhouse is good compared to Shoot ‘Em Up. Brian disagrees. He thought Grindhouse was really campy. I argue that it is supposed to be campy so it actually succeeds at achieving it’s objective. In Shoot ‘Em Up, I have no idea what their objective is.. It’s like an action movie that is comedic, but unintentionally so. Some of the scenes are so stupid and unbelievable that it’s funny. However, that’s not actually the goal of the movie so it fails its purpose. I think the critics were overly generous for giving it a C+ mark. Anyway, here are some pictures of last night’s outing.. Mom B’s 55th Birthday
Posted on September 1, 2007 by Ching under Family, Flickr, Food and Drink.
We celebrated Mom B’s 55th birthday today by having dinner at Logan’s Roadhouse. The food was actually quite impressive. The dinner rolls were great, steak was good, and the ribs were fall-off-the bone delish! The menu prices are reasonable too.
Brian and I shared the pick three combo and got the bayou popcorn shrimp appetizer, 6 oz. steak, half rack of ribs, two sides and the nutty fudgeslide for only $16.99. Our drinks (Brian got soda per usual because he can’t drink and I got a raspberry ice tea and a roadhouse tea) were extra of course, but it was still a bargain. Even after sharing our meal, we still had leftovers. We were stuffed. Grandma and grandpa ended up taking the leftover ribs home.
Here are some of the other pictures we took:
