Jenni’s Birthday Dinner at OTB

I got to meet some of my sister’s friends last weekend when we joined them at On the Border to celebrate her 23rd birthday. She’s really 32, but didn’t want to admit it that night so she transposed the numbers of her age in her favor. Sorry, Jen, but that trick won’t work next year. LOL.
UP NEXT: Obligatory food photos… because I don’t really take pictures of people. Ha! Darcy and I realized this the other day when we did a Google images search of my name “Ching Brubaker” and there was one picture of me and Brian and the rest were pictures of food. Can you guess which plate belonged to me? One, two, three, or four? Post your answer in the comments below.

I forgot to check in at our house on FourSquare yesterday and Brian stole my mayorship. Whaaa!
But I digress… The food at OTB is decent. It doesn’t rank in my list of favorite restaurants, but I don’t mind their food. Plus, I always get the same thing anyway. I won’t tell you what dish I get because you’re supposed to guess it. I think people mostly go to OTB for drinks and for socializing, not so much for their phenomenal food. But, Los Cocos my favorite place for social drinking. You can’t beat $1.99 margaritas everyday.
The one thing that OTB has on Los Cocos is location, location, location. OTB is conveniently located at Bradley Fair and there’s not a Los Cocos in the Northeast part of town. Plus, it was Jenni’s birthday so she got to pick the restaurant. I didn’t mind OTB, but I hope she picks a different place next year.

Birthday Festivities Continued

Brian and I hosted his parents for dinner on Saturday night to celebrate my birthday. We celebrated multiple times this year (Chapada, Bite Me, Carrabba’s). Not so much by choice, but just how things worked out because that’s when people were available.
It was fitting that the Food Network had their The Next Iron Chef: Super Chefs marathon that day because Brian was playing chef at home. He prepared apricot pork roast and German fries.
I won’t explain the foods. Brian can do that for you guys in the comments. However, I will share some photos with you all…
The German fries turned out really well. Brian did a great job.

Brian’s mom brought over chocolate mousse cheesecake that she made for dessert. It was super yummy.
For my birthday, they got me the Words With Friends board game
I had uninstalled the game from my phone a while ago, but I had to reinstall it because it’s got a scoring tool and word checker for the board game. So I’m back to playing WWF again. Challenge me!

Dinner with Grandma

Brian and I spent some time with grandma on Sunday. We picked her up a little early so we could take her by the new house. She really liked it.
After looking at the house, we took grandma to dinner at her favorite restaurant. See if you can tell what her favorite restaurant is based on the photos that follow.

Yep. You guessed it. Grandma loves Olive Garden.

Logan at the Movies

I posted about taking Logan to the movies on Facebook the other day, but I wanted to share some of the photos we took with you guys.
Upon arriving at Warren Theater, the three of us — Brian, Logan and I — get out of the car and Logan proceeds to walk to the door. Here’s a picture that I took of him because he was way ahead of us.
ME: Wait up Logan!
LOGAN: Okay.
But instead of coming back towards us, he just stands there.
ME: Look, the sign says “No Loitering.”
LOGAN: I am not loitering!
Brian tries to explain to Logan what loitering means and argues that he is, in fact, at the moment, loitering.
LOGAN: I’m waiting for you guys! You’re making me loiter!
Children are so adorable. LOL. Here’s Brian and Logan in the auditorium.
And playing games in the game room after the movie.
I wanted to go bowling and ride go karts at the Alley afterwards too, but it was time to take Logan home. Maybe we can do it next time and then we can take Eli with us also.
BTW, we went to see The Dark Knight Rises. It’s really good. I was glued to the screen and loved the plot twists at the end. Logan seemed to enjoy the movie also. You all should go see it.

Brian and Logan at the Donut Whole

Brian tries to convince Logan to stop drinking Mountain Dew. Logan won because we ended up buying him Mountain Dew when we went to Sonic later that day.
Yes, it was a terrible weekend in terms of nutrition. I had strawberry limeades two days in a row. I think I had more sugar than I’ve had in a month. My body is still in shock.
We had a lot of fun with Logan, though. Hope we can do it again before school starts. Minus all the bad eating, of course.
