Water for Elephants
Posted on May 8, 2011 by Ching under Date Ideas, Movies.
Brian and Jay were great sports and went to see Water for Elephants with the girls.
After the movie, we all went to the Vagabond. Brian and I had only been there once, after our massages at Bohemia. None of the others had ever been there. It’s actually a cozy little coffee bar. The prices are good too. Better than Starbucks.
I wish Cory could have joined us. I don’t think he wanted to see Water for Elephants, though. LOL. BTW, Jay was really funny. After sitting there for ten minutes, he totally went back to his car and grabbed his laptop so he could “fit in” with the other coffee bar patrons. I don’t think it worked, though. We still managed to stand out. =P

Abbie Cornish is a Busy Girl
Posted on April 7, 2011 by Ching under Movies.
Brian dragged me to see Sucker Punch at the IMAX over the weekend. It was pretty lame. Save your money and just wait for the DVD release. On the bright side, we did get some good photos of the inside of the theater.
The last few times we went were during some really popular movies so we couldn’t catch the the theater empty. We lucked out that Sucker Punch was lame. LOL.
Speaking of, we actually saw two Abbie Cornish flicks this week. She’s also in Limitless, which we saw with Misty last night for cheap movie night. Limitless was okay. Abbie look in Limitless reminds me of Charlize Theron, except Charlize is a better actress. I’m not being catty because Abbie split up Ryan and Reese (though, I have to admit, I wasn’t thrilled when all of that stuff was going on — Ryan should have known better), I’m just stating a fact. She’s been somewhat lame lately. I think that’s what happens when you sell out. Then again, everyone has to make a living and we all “sell out” in our own ways.
I really liked Abbie before she was mainstream. I liked her better in Candy (with the late Heath Ledger) and Somersault (available on instant watch on Netflix). Of course, she’s probably making a lot more now.

No Strings Attached
Posted on February 6, 2011 by Ching under Movies.
Brian and I went to see No Strings Attached last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. I think it’s because we could relate. Relationship-wise, he’s a lot like Adam and I’m a lot like Emma. And, when we first got together, we were hooking up before we were officially a couple. We called it “making friendship.”
Just like Emma, I was emotionally detached because I tend to be crazy and jealous when I’m in a relationship. NSA was the only way it could work. Eventually, we fell in love and things did progress. Brian made me go to therapy for my jealousy and relationship hang-ups and, after one visit with this therapist who thought she was Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct, he said we didn’t have to go back. LOL.
Some pictures of Brian and I back in our NSA days…
So, for those of you who think NSA that generally ends badly, sometimes it does work out. We are living proof of it. Also, the movie was actually quite entertaining (with or without parallels to our own life). We had some good laughs in the theater.
After the movie, we stopped by Back Alley to say hi to Jay and Cory who were there watching the UFC fights there.

Movie Date with Chad
Posted on January 4, 2011 by Ching under Movies.
Brian, Chad and I went to the movies on Christmas Day. It used to be something that David, Kevin, Brian and I did right after Thanksgiving and Christmas. 🙂
I initially wanted to see The Social Network, but Chad really wanted to see True Grit. Since it was our Christmas treat for Chad, I conceded. I’m glad I did because True Grit was awesome. I think it was one of the best movies I’d seen this year.
Excellent choice, Chad!
Brian and I did see The Social Network a few days later and it was pretty good, too. Who knew watching the store of how Facebook come about would be so entertaining? It wasn’t as good as True Grit, though. LOL. I really liked True Grit. It’s been quite a year for Jeff Bridges, don’t you think?

Tron Legacy in IMAX 3D
Posted on December 19, 2010 by Ching under Movies.
Brian and I got to check out the new IMAX theater that just opened yesterday. We went to watch Tron Legacy there this afternoon. The script was somewhat lame and I thought there would be more 3D scenes than there was, but the movie was still entertaining overall. The visuals and the action sequences were great and the musical score was cool. I just didn’t get “wowed” by it. The IMAX theater is huge, though. It is by far the largest screen that I’ve ever seen. That, I was actually impressed with. I’m looking forward to my next IMAX 3D movie.
Me, in my goofy 3D glasses. It felt like it was falling off my face the entire time because I don’t have a big enough nose to hold it up.
They looked oversized even for Brian’s big head. =P
