Side by Side Corollas

We left for Houston at 3 AM on Saturday morning, October 2. It was actually a compromise because I originally wanted to leave at midnight and Brian wanted to leave at 6 AM. Since we couldn’t agree, we decided to compromise and split the difference. This worked out great ’cause then Jenni didn’t have to take Friday night off at her second job. She gets off work shortly after Liquid closes at 2 AM. So then we could take off as soon as she gets home from work and she can just sleep on the way down there, which is exactly what she did.

It worked out perfect because this was the same weekend that they started re-paving the asphalt in our apartment complex. Usually the truck is parked in one of the parking stalls in front of our townhouse, while Bebot is in the garage. The truck needed to be off the street for the re-paving so we put it inside our garage. We took Bebot and parked him inside mom and dad’s garage, and then the four of us (Mom, Jenni, Brian and I) took mom’s Highlander. It has horrible gas mileage (compared to Bebot), but at least it’s roomier. At least we only had to pay for gas on the way to Houston. Mom took care of gas on the return trip.

Believe it or not, I did most of the driving. I think Brian only drove a couple of hours each way. Mom didn’t drive, though she did stay awake to chat with me and keep me awake. Jenni just slept mostly. I did the rest of the driving. Go me.

I drove through Dallas both times. We timed it just right, though, so that we didn’t have to fight rush hour traffic. There was still a lot of cars, though. We knew we were in Dallas when the bottlenecks and bumper-to-bumper traffic started.

Anyway, it’s time to hit the sack because I’m getting sleepy. I will write more about our Houston roadtrip next time.

xoxo,
Ching
