Kainan Na

For many the 4th of July means fireworks. For us it’s another excuse to have a feast. That’s what we do on holidays anyway. LOL.
Brian and I brought a bottle of rosato and teriyaki chicken kabobs. It’s healthy-ish, but there were plenty of other unhealthy options for us to feast on last Thursday.
Mom made delicious fruit cocktail. The only thing missing was butong.
Some kind of salad. I didn’t have any. 🙁
She also made a spicy beef and sausage dish. It’s kind of like caldereta.
Sinigang na baboy. You can’t see the pork, but it’s there.
Pinatatasan. Pork and potatoes and mushroom. I’m not sure why the mushrooms are in there. Usually it’s just pork and potatoes. If I had to guess I’d say mom was cleaning out her refrigerator. LOL.
For dessert we had bico, which I’m not really too fond of…
..and Jen and Armando brought chocolate and peanut butter pie from the Copper Oven.
Brian’s mom also made some super delicious peach cobbler for us. My dad absolutely loved it. Best peach cobbler I’ve ever had hands down. It’s better than the life-changing peach cobbler I had from Jayleen Catering last year and better than the peach cobbler they serve at Bite ME BBQ.
It is so good that I actually want to learn how to make it.
Our favorite thing to do after our annual 4th of July feast is sit out on the golf course where we can see 360 degrees around us. We just sit in our lawn chairs and wait for the fireworks to commence.
No words can describe how amazing it is. Everywhere you look there’s fireworks. I wish I would have gotten some pictures of it. This is the best we can do.
Who needs to buy fireworks when you can enjoy everyone else’s fireworks show?
