Cracker Barrel Old Country Store
Posted on July 4, 2013 by Ching under Food and Drink.
It had been a while since we’ve been to Cracker Barrel and Brian was craving a hearty breakfast after he regurgitated everything he ate the night before so we decided to go there for brunch last Saturday. I was actually craving fried chicken and was excited to see that they had it on special that day.
They were kind of busy that day. We actually had to wait to be seated and we also had to wait a while for our server to take our orders.
During the wait I managed to talk myself out of getting fried chicken and got the salmon patties instead. It turned out to be a good choice because it was delicious. They tasted like crab cakes only with fish. The green beans were very good also.
This is Brian assembling his breakfast.
Brian got biscuits and gravy, sausage patties, hash browns, and two eggs fried hard. They cooked the eggs incorrectly though, so he had to wait for the correct ones.
When they finally came back out, he had eaten all of his food and wasn’t hungry anymore. It was probably for the best because they might have messed with his eggs.
We love playing the games at Cracker Barrel while we wait for either our food or our check. We also like checking out all of the great toys and games and all of the old fashioned candy. Cracker Barrel is just a neat little place.
If you’ve never eaten at Cracker Barrel, you have to try it. Their food is usually pretty good. I’ve tried various things and I’ve never been disappointed. I’ve liked everything that I’ve never tried before.

Angry Birds

Ching and I decided to feed the ducks in our pond. While tossing the bread into the water, a red winged black bird was making a ruckus in one of the nearby trees. After a few moments, he buzzed my head. Ching asked, “What was that?!” I told her that the bird buzzed my head.
It would make noise at one tree then buzz my head and move the the other then repeat the cycle. At one point, the bird came so close to my head that I could hear the wings beat and feel the breeze from them flapping. I couldn’t turn my back on him because, every time I did, he would swoop in on me. I think he is mad because his mate kept making a nest under my deck and I kept tearing it down. Now I think whenever I go outside, he will swoop. I think I will need to do something to make him happy. Just don’t know what.

Cards Against Humanity Night
Posted on July 3, 2013 by Ching under Games.
We had such a blast paying Cards Against Humanity last weekend. We played two games (which I won both times) and blasted through all the card so now Brian and I are ready to purchase the expansions.
I think I had an unfair advantage because I knew everyone, where as the others only knew me and Brian prior to that night. It was super hilarious though and, I think it’s safe to say, that we all got to know each other pretty well that night. Apparently, no one had any idea of my sick and twisted side. Not even Brian.
Here’s a sample round.
Here’s video of Hideki as the Card Czar reading us his choices for the question, “What do old people smell like?”
“Self-loathing” won that one. Here’s Todd as Card Czar.
We quickly found that “8 oz. of Mexican black tar heroin” is one of the trump cards. You can pretty much play it on just about anything and it will win. LOL. You have to know your judge though.
I won this one with “funky fresh rhymes” although there were some really hilarious (and horrible) ones that were played.
Cards Against Humanity has got to be the most fun game we own hands down. I can’t believe we only heard about it this year. Seriously. Anyway, the expansions are coming so we’re having another Cards Against Humanity Night very soon. We’re raising the bar this time and turning it into a drinking game so come ready to drink!

Making Lumpia
Posted on July 1, 2013 by Ching under Food and Drink.
Mom came over on Saturday afternoon to show me and Brian how to make lumpia.
Here’s a photo of mom and Brian in full concentration.
Our mound of freshly rolled lumpia…
All the best looking ones were made by me. 😉
Frying time…
Just waiting…
And waiting…
Not quite done yet.
Look! They’re finally done!
The first batch out of the fryer.
Brian actually had to verify.
Time for a taste test.
Yummy!
They turned out really well. We didn’t fry all of them on Saturday night. We only fried half. Mom took a bag and we froze the others in Ziploc bags. We ended up giving a bag to Brian’s parents and also one to John. I hope they enjoyed the lumpia as much as we did. I can’t wait to make some more!

Mmmm… Wasabi!
Posted on June 30, 2013 by Ching under Food and Drink.
Brian and I treated ourselves to Wasabi on Friday night. It’s been a couple of months since we dined there last so we felt like we earned it.
Here are some photos of our food…
You’ve got to have their crab cakes when you go.
This is the Wasabi roll — my new favorite. The soft shell crab on top was super crunchy and super delicious. I also like the avocado on the outside. It gives the roll a nice sweet flavor. I love avocados.
They took our favorite roll, the shrimp tempura crazy roll, off the menu (I hate it when that happens) so we decided to get a crunch roll. It was good, but the shrimp tempura crazy roll is way better. Next time we go I think I’m going to have to insist they make it for us. There just isn’t any substitute.
If I could eat out everyday, I’d probably hit Wasabi a few times a week. We have to limit eating out though. For now, Wasabi will be our special, once in a while treat. I can’t wait until the next time!
