Dr. Molly and Mr. Monster

Molly at Play

She looks vicious in this picture, doesn’t she? She is the most adorable little puppy but like a gremlin she has her terrible, vicious side. When she gets in a really playful mood she’ll come after your toes and feet like there is no tomorrow. It’s cute at first but she gets carried away sometimes and starts biting really hard. Then it’s not fun anymore.

We took her the vet today for her weekly weigh in and I’m happy to report that my pot-bellied princess is now 3 lbs 5 ounces. Last Friday she weighed only 2 lbs 13 ounces, so we are doing great.

She is still very finicky about food, though. It takes a lot of coaxing to get her to eat. Sometimes I just give up and leave her alone. A few hours later I will see the food dish empty. I can only hope that she’s the one eating it and the cats aren’t scarfing up her food.

Speaking of the cats, Oscar’s eye infection has finally healed but now Felix has it. Hopefully Jesus and Molly don’t get it. As for us, the vet said that it’s not contagious to humans so Brian and I are safe. For now, anyway. Who knows what other diseases our babies will contract.

Cold Stone

Yummy Ice Cream

Some people call it depression. I call it getting a free t-shirt.

I sent Brian to Cold Stone to get us some ice cream. Molly and I stayed home and played. He said it was hell. There were a good 20 people in front of him in line. More than half of these were children who wanted to sample every freakin’ flavor.

Oh, and don’t get him started on the singing. He absolutely hates that singing. He actually sent me a text message (one of the several he sent because he was bored out of his mind waiting in line) that said “Thank God they finally stopped!”

When it was finally his turn, there was a look of horror on the little ice cream girl’s face when he asked for the Everybody’s size to go container. Brian said she wore herself out just scraping my mocha (we always do half mocha and half chocolate with marshamallows and chocolate slivers). He told me it actually took two people to mix our ice cream together.

I told Brian not to feel bad. I’m sure we’re not the only ones who’s bought the big tub, specially since they’re running a free t-shirt promo right now. Although, I’d have to admit that must’ve have been one hell of a night for her — having to contend with more than a dozen bratty kids asking to sample this flavor and that flavor and not making up their minds and then this jerk asks for the big tub. To top it off they make you sing these ridiculous songs (I think it’s cute actually, despite the fact that it annoys the crap out of Brian)! I don’t know how they manage to stay so cheerful.

I’m getting simple in my old age.

Posted on May 10, 2006 by under Toys.

My birthday is in like a month. I have never had this much difficulty deciding what kind of birthday present I want. Normally by now I know exactly what I want and I think I will be satisfied with that decision. However, this year I can not make that decision. I have bounced from a light table for my art work to a new tattoo all the way to a laptop and now down to a new cell phone. While we are on the subject of new cell phones, I used to like cell phones with all the gadgets and gizmos. Today I find myself looking at the simple phones, something to just fulfill my needs. Color display, text messaging and that’s about it. I think I have finally decided that what I truly want is the simple things in life, my wife, my animals and a roof over my head. Anything else is just a bonus! My current decision for my birthday and the one that I have decided that I want the most is a new Nokia 6101 and maybe some gold for my World of Warcraft character (the online game that I am seriously addicted to). Ching told me last night that even she is not this difficult to shop for. I think it’s just my old age.

Pot-Smoking Experience Required

Posted on May 9, 2006 by under Life.

I took a couple of hits off my Albuterol inhaler last night to show Brian my technique.  It was clumsy and awkward and I really don’t know how much medicine is reaching my lungs because I don’t think I’m doing it right.  Brian tried to show me how to do it and he sounded like he knew what he was talking about.

“How do you know how to do this when you’ve never had to use an inhaler before either?” I wondered.  Then it dawns on me.  He used to smoke weed.

“Are you kidding me?”  He said, “These are the same inhalers that people who have asthma use.  We used to steal these all the time.  Albuterol is great with weed.”  Spoken like a true pot-smoking expert.

I never thought that not having had the experience of smoking pot would hurt me in the future.  I’ve always been proud of the fact that I’ve never ever tried it and never had the desire to, but I think pot-smoking experience would’ve been helpful in this situation.  Heck, even cigarette-smoking experience would be helpful!  I think my main problem is that I don’t know how to inhale.  Of course, using the inhaler requires some coordination too — which I don’t have.

At any rate, the lesson here is all life experiences are helpful.  Good or bad, you’re probably going to use those skills at some point in your life.  If I was a smoker (cigarettes or otherwise), then I’d probably know how to inhale properly and not waste a single drop of medicine.  Then again, if I was a smoker I’d probably have more health problems.

Okay, that just ruined my moral lesson.  Let’s try again.  Let me say this, all life experiences are helpful, and let’s just leave it at that.
