Another Busy Week
Posted on August 19, 2010 by Ching under Health, Life.
It’s been another busy week, which means I missed going to the gym again. On Monday night we were invited to dinner at Brian’s parents’ house. They gave us our anniversary gift. They are always so generous to us. This year tops all other years, though. Their gift went towards getting us our new Samsung Vibrant Galaxy S phones! I think we are also going to use it towards new stainless steel cookware and then maybe some new window treatments and a 16G microSD card for Brian.
Tuesday night was spent at the Phelpi. It was Tekken and WSOP night. I went undefeated at Tekken for most of the night until the very last game that Jay and I played. I think seven consecutive wins is pretty good, though. I don’t know that anyone else in our crew has achieved the same feat. We left our Tekken game over there because Cory was whining that he’d only played the game twice. I figured he could use some practice. =P Just kidding, Cory!
On Wednesday, Misty and I had our first laser hair removal appointments at the Kellogg Clinic. We went in together. It wasn’t as bad as I thought, but it was pretty painful. The nurse practitioner, Steve, said that he will numb me next time, though, since I am such a wuss.
Misty could handle a much higher laser setting because she’s fair-skinned and fair-haired. It’s more painful for me because of my dark skin color. That is what Steve says, anyhow.
Misty got to wear the cool shades.
Misty and I agreed that we like going together because we’re chatting while we’re getting treated and so it keeps our mind off it. Although, there was no getting around the pain that I felt. It burned! Also, burnt hair smells bad. FYI.
After our appointment, we treated ourselves to “Bang Wednesday” at Bonefish Grill. Mom, Dad, Jenni, JenTevs, her husband Armand, Mikki, Mikki’s sister, Misty, Brian and I all met up there. I think the Bonefish folks were starting to get annoyed at us because we started out with a reservation for four, that turned into six, that turned into nine, that turned into ten. We just kept calling back to add more people to the reservation. I can’t blame them for being irritated. We were a bit of a pain.
Tonight was supposed to be Shamrock night, but I got home too late last night to organize my closet so that ended up having to be done today. We didn’t finish early enough to make it to The Shamrock. I really wanted to see Virginia Williams, too! The last time I’d heard her perform was last year before Highlands closed. 🙁
Tomorrow night is Rush night. Looking forward to that. Brian’s isn’t too excited about it, though. He hates Rush. Mostly he’s just going for me.
So yeah.. Here’s to another busy week, which means no workout. Ugh. I will be hitting it hard this weekend, though, to make up for slacking during the week.
Until next time.
xoxo,
Ching

Ching’s Red Eye
Posted on August 19, 2010 by Ching under Health.
I busted a blood vessel in my eye somehow. I still haven’t figured out how, though. I didn’t even know there was something wrong until Monday when Jan noticed my eye had a red spot. It didn’t hurt so I wasn’t worried about it at first. Then on Tuesday morning, the redness had spread. It made my eye look really funky. At that point I was worried so Brian and I agreed I should have the doctor check it out.
Luckily for me, the eye doctor was available that afternoon. We go to College Hill Eye Care, which is located just South of Central on Hillside so I was gone from work only 30 minutes or so. Their office was slow so I didn’t even have to wait. I got in really quickly and they had me read some letters on the wall and then he looked in my eye and in about two seconds decided I was fine.
I can’t believe I paid copay for that. LOL. I should have listened to Isaac who told me earlier that day that I was going to be fine. I told him that I trusted him and all, but I wanted a professional opinion. =P
The optometrist, who isn’t my regular optometrist (Dr. Goertz wasn’t in that day), told me that he did not find any foreign objects and as long as my eye doesn’t hurt then it should be fine. I wore my glasses on Tuesday because I was afraid that I would further irritate my eye and he reassured me that it would be fine to resume wearing my contact lenses. He did say that my eye will probably look worse before it gets better, but that it should be back to normal in about a week or two.
Apparently, these things are pretty common. If you cough or sneeze or puke or are constipated or strain in any way then you could bust a blood vessel in your eye and your eye will look just like mine does. I’d never had this happen before, though, so it made me panic. Everything is fine, however. As a matter of fact, I think the redness is starting to dissipate.
P.S. I have a theory about what caused the blood vessel to pop, but I’ll keep it to myself in the interest of keeping this blog PG. LOL!

Spa Therapy
Posted on August 15, 2010 by Ching under Health, Things to Do.
Speaking of free stuff, I’m looking forward to my spa appointment today. I’ve got an appointment for the “Tropics” package at Serenity which includes a 90 minute massage (I opted for Swedish instead of therapeutic massage this time), soothing coconut mango hand and foot exfoliation treatment, and finished with a warm shea butter treatment. After the crazy weekend I’ve had, I could really use some pampering. Someone out there is looking out for me. Thank you! =)

One Heck of a Busy Week
Posted on August 2, 2010 by Ching under Family, Health, Life, Things to Do.
It may be Saturday again before I get a chance to make it to the Y so I’m going to need to squeeze some working out at lunch time. I had planned on working out with Brian after work, but I noticed that I had a UPS package from Amazon that was scheduled to be delivered today. I ended up rushing home before the leasing office closed so I could pick up my package. (I may do some crunches on my stability ball after I post this to make up for not working out today. We’ll see.)
Here’s what’s going on this week that’s keeping me from making it to the Y:
Tuesday – Mystery shop at Granite City, which reminds me, I need to go over those materials to make sure I know what I’m supposed to score them on. It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these.
Wednesday – Movie date with Misty. We’re going to see Inception for cheap movie night. I think Brian’s dad will be meeting us at the theater also. I can’t wait to see Inception. I heard it’s pretty good.
Thursday – Waxing at Beau Monde and then Western Hoe-Down at QAC. Our apartment complex is hosting a Western pool party with Jet BBQ, Legend of Windwagon Smith, music, games and prizes. Sounds like loads of fun.
Brian found the note/invitation hanging on our door last week, but we completely just spaced it out. I’m glad that I was at the leasing office earlier because we totally forgot to RSVP. Sue was like, “Are you guys coming to the party on Thursday?” I told her that I’d be there and she asked, “So I should put you down for two then?” It took a while to register because I didn’t realize that I was supposed to RSVP. Brian failed to tell me that part. “Brian is coming too, right?” I was like, “I suppose I’ll bring him with me… Put us down for two please.”
Friday – Dinner at Bonefish Grill and then I think Brian is taking me out to Suede for Salsa night. I’ve decided I might take the new dress for a spin. Kind of like a dress rehearsal of sorts. LOL. This will be our anniversary celebration because we have Logan (our nephew) on our actual anniversary day.
Saturday – I’ll finally be able to make it to the Y (Andover branch). Can’t miss Saturdays because it’s my favorite step class. Afterward we’ll be doing some intense house cleaning in preparation for Logan’s visit. We’ll have to interrupt the house cleaning for a brief stop at the Phelpi for Gavin’s 1st birthday, though.
Sunday – Step and Core (North branch) and then Logan arrives. Not sure yet what time, but we’ll be ready for him anytime. Brian is doing his P90X workout at home so he’ll be home all day in case Logan arrives earlier in the afternoon. Will need to check with the Cannadys to find out what time they’ll be dropping him off and if they want to have dinner over here.
Monday – Brian and I are both taking off work to take Logan to Tanganyika. I love that place! Jennifer Cannady is going to have her c-section at 7 AM that morning (7 am on 8-9-10; yes, we’re a family of nerds) so I figured we could take Logan to Tanganyika at 9 AM, spend a couple of hours there, have lunch and then head to the hospital to visit mom and baby Quentin. The rest of Monday will be spent swimming at the pool and playing video games. (JC – Please don’t forget to pack swim trunks for Logan!)
Tuesday – Brian goes back to work, but I’ll still be off. This is the day we have to return Logan to his mom and dad. Booo! I might just catch up on work stuff in the afternoon after Logan is gone.
So there you have it. One heck of a busy week. Not much gym time, but if I can spend 30 minutes of my lunch break at the fitness center at work that should help a little. Have a wonderful week, everyone!

Brian decided that he would start P90X today. This is Brian doing P90X.
I really hope that there’s more moving than sitting around. LOL.
