Great Cam Site

Posted on April 22, 2006 by under Web.

I found this cam site the other day, Camliving.com, and it’s actually pretty cool.  They have over a dozen cams set up throughout their house.  I’m hoping one day, maybe when Brian and I move to a different house, we can set up something similar.  That would be so cool.

Video Blogging Made Easy

Posted on February 25, 2006 by under Web.

I just discovered You Tube. I know they’ve been around for a while, but I’ve been busy so I’m kind of behind the curve here. Anyway, I just now got a chance to tinker with it and it’s actually pretty cool. It’s really simple and easy to use. You don’t have to know anything about anything. You just need to make your videos, upload them and you’re done. The videos are actually stored on their servers so you don’t even have to have hosting. You just upload your videos to their server and they give you the code to use. You can paste the code anywhere (MySpace, Blogger, you name it). It’s so simple… it’s completely foolproof! Here’s an old video that Brian made a few years ago. I didn’t have any other videos to upload so I had to use this one. Check it out so you can see how this thing works.Neat, huh? This is one of those things that I wish I could’ve thought of. I mean, the creators of You Tube are probably going to make a killing off this utility. Seriously. Thousands of people are already using it and the number of users are growing exponentially as we speak. Of course, you’ve got people like me who will share our latest and greatest discoveries with anyone willing to listen (or read, in this case) so that only helps them to spread news about their service. Anyway, now that I know how it works you’ll probably be seeing some video blogs soon. Okay, maybe not for a while since I’m kind of busy right now but definitely sometime soon. Keep checking back!

Stamps From Your Photos

Posted on November 5, 2005 by under Toys, Web.

In keeping with my promise to share with you cool new internet discoveries, I present to you stamps using your very own photographs through a company called Zazzle. Zazzle has partnered with Flickr to make this new feature available to Flickr users. If you are living under a rock or you are just not cool enough to have a Flickr account of your own, then this is yet another reason to get one.

I mean, real stamps that you can mail bills with using your own photos and designs. How cool is that? You could even take a close up picture of the hand of someone giving finger and use that to stamp your credit card company payments. How fitting!

On a more positive note, you can use these personalized stamps to spice up your holiday cards. So it has more uses than just saying FU to your creditors. This has got to be the greatest invention since sliced bread. It takes stamp collecting to a whole new level. Kudos to Zazzle for making my best of 2005 list. I love it!

My Yahoo 360

Posted on October 23, 2005 by under Web.

I’ve sold out and decided to start my own Yahoo! 360° page. I mean, even Ritchie‘s mom has one. I should have one, too. Anyway, some of the features are pretty cool. I can tell that Yahoo! is trying to infuse their usual boring applications with some great Flickr-inspired ideas to make things better and more attractive to users. I think it’s working. So anyway, some of the things you’ll find of note in my 360° page is the Netflix news feed. It shows you the last three movies that we received so if you ever want to keep tabs on our movie watching habits, now you can. The only downside is that the page only allows you to have three news feeds. So I have a news feed from my other blog and the two Netflix news feeds. I wish it would allow more so that it can pull all the entries from my other blogs and make them available in one place for easy access. Speaking of Netflix movies, the last two that we watched were Monster-in-Law and Robots. Monster-in-Law was alright. It had some funny moments but it didn’t really move me. Robots was pretty good. I almost cried. I’m not sure if Logan has seen it, but that would be a great movie for him to watch. That, and Iron Giant. I love those types of movies. They’re inspirational. Sappiness aside, we got to hang out with our poker buddies after the hockey game last night. We didn’t qualify for the final event at Neighbors (not yet anyway), but we had a blast reminiscing at IHOP after poker. We being Corey, Brian, Dill, Becca and I. Tony, Niki (Tony’s wife), Nick (who Brian always calls Lance for some strange reason) and his wife all came but they arrived late and didn’t get to play. They got tired of waiting for the rest of us to get knocked out so they all left to go dinner separately. It’s a shame they couldn’t wait two seconds. It would’ve been fun to get the whole group together. The funny thing is, I got a text message from Dill about a $10 buy-in home game at Tony’s slated for that evening. I replied saying that Brian and I had made plans to go to Neighbors. Apparently, Corey replied with the same thing. When Dill and Becca showed up at Neighbors we knew the home game was canceled. Anyway, Brian and I have decided that we will return to Neighbors on Saturday to try again. So no home games on Saturday nights guys. At least until the tourney at Neighbors is over. “Never give up. Never surrender.” P.S. The person who names the movie that the quote comes from gets a cookie. =P

More Blogging Sites

Posted on September 7, 2005 by under Web.

Remember when I wrote that blogging has gone mainstream? Well, I’m making that statement again but this time to the power of ten. Full-featured, free blog sites are popping up everywhere like mushrooms. You all know about the usual suspects. However, I came across a couple of new ones just last week that are worth mentioning. There’s Blogsome which is powered by WordPress and then there’s BlogSpirit. I’m not sure what the second one is powered by, though. I’m not abandoning Blogger and converting my blogs by any means. I just wanted to inform you guys of my new discoveries. Really though, I’ve been looking around because I’ve decided to start my own anonymous blog. I need more literary freedom than what this blog and the other one has to offer. I’ve been trying to avoid starting an anonymous blog, but you all knew it was inevitable. It was bound to happen sooner or later. So fine, call me a sellout. By the way, Anonymous Lawyer actually answers anonymous emails from random readers. What a great guy!
