Case Study – Done

Posted on April 25, 2004 by under School.

I finally finished writing our case study (after much stress, many sleepless nights and grumpy days, and immeasurable agony) on Meadowbrook Garden Center for Management and Organizational Behavior.  The strange thing is, I thought that my stress level would considerably decrease after this.  While on one hand I feel a sense of relief, I feel just as stressed out as I ever was.  Would this have anything to do with the six to eight-page research paper due on May 7th that I still have to write for Philosophy?  Hmm..  I wonder?

At least, I have two seconds to blog.  I gotta celebrate the completion of the writing portion of the case study somehow!  By the way, mom and dad, Jen and Ray, and Brian and I are all having dinner at PF Chang’s today to do some post-birthday celebrating for dad.  Mom and dad will finally meet Ray, for the very first time.  The irony is that, many of mom and dad’s friends met Ray last Saturday as Jen and Ray were leaving PF Chang’s.  I know this because I saw them too as we were leaving.  Anyway, I think it’s about time that mom and dad meet Ray.  I truly don’t understand why Jen has been hiding him.  It seems that she is eager for them to meet her loser-type boyfriends and when she finally meets a winner, she’s ambivalent.  Crazy girl, that one.

Busy With School

Posted on March 20, 2004 by under Life, School.

Sorry there haven’t been any posts since the 7th.  I’ve been kind of busy with school.  And even though it’s technically spring break, I still have lots of school work to do.

We spread ourselves kind of thin on Sunday.  It was spent having lunch at El Torero with my case study group.  Then Brian and I drove around town taking pictures of garden centers (our case study is on a fictitious garden center — Meadowbrook Garden Center — that’s not doing so well).  We had a few minutes to hang out at the house before going to the last hockey game (possibly the last one ever because the Thunder is moving to Topeka).  And then after that we went to Rivers Edge just in time to watch Half of Reason (my friend from school David Johnson is in the band) perform.

I’ve got tons of pictures that I took also, but I really don’t have that much time because we are over-booked again today.  We’ve got quite a few errands to run and then Brian’s work group is having a picnic, then we have dinner at Kobe’s with Jen, Ray, Ashley and Travis and then off to 54 for the rest of the evening.

I have a few funny stories to share but, once again because of the time constraints, I will save those for next time.

School Woes

Posted on February 23, 2004 by under School.

I got my OB/MGMT exam back today.  I got a 98% — missed one stupid question, which had I spent more than two seconds on it I, I could’ve answered right!  Anyway, no one got 100% so I still kicked ass.  Yay me!

You already know how Saturday went.  Sunday was kind of crummy.  Brian had to buy a new desk so he took his computer apart and when he put it back together, we couldn’t get our home network working again.  That just drives me nuts!!  It was working before!  He just had to have a new desk though — which he didn’t even need anyway!  GRRR!

I’m even more cranky because I had to sit there from 2PM to 12AM writing this stupid paper for PHIL 300, a class that my friend and coworker Kelley dropped so I have to go at it on my own.  The professor felt that it would take a month to complete but I procrastinated so I had to sit there for nine hours working on the stupid thing when I could’ve been out watching a movie or playing computer games or doing other homework (not likely) or something.

I was wrong and he was right.  I should’ve started on it weeks ago!  Anyway, you live and learn.  Brian and I had a few choice words about the gruesome ordeal but I think I will save it for when I actually get my paper back — just in case!  Can you tell I hate writing research papers?

Back-to-Back Exams

Posted on February 17, 2004 by under School.

I know I was stressed out last week because I had back-to-back exams so I thought I’d give you guys a recap.  I took my Accounting exam last Tuesday.  We got the exams back today and I missed three multiple-choice questions which ended up giving me a 91%.  The Marketing exam that I took on Wednesday, which I studied for while I was watching my recorded tv shows and playing poker (Brian did the button-clicking for me) online, I got a 100% (we got those back yesterday).  Only two people got 100% in the whole class, mind you!  Then my Microeconomics exam, the one that I was really stressing over because I didn’t have time to study for it so I had to miss my Accounting class which is right before it so that I could use that time to review…  Drum roll please…  Three people got 95.8%, the highest score, and I was one of the three!  Yay, me!  Tonight I’ve got another cram session for an exam in Management tomorrow…  But I figure, I do better when I cram so I’m not stressin’ over it this time.

Exam Woes

Posted on November 15, 2003 by under School.

Boo hoo!  I’m still getting over that dreadful exam that I had to take.  Did I mention that I hate Macro?  Well, I do.

Brian took me to Body Ink and Steel on Tuesday, Veteran’s Day holiday.  We had Dan cover up my old tattoo.  It was soo painful!  My first one didn’t hurt at all.  This was extreme torture.  Either that or I’ve forgotten how painful the first one was because it’s been over eight years.  Or it could be that I was younger and tougher then.  Or perhaps Brian has spoiled me so much that I’ve turned into a cry-baby-wuss.  Either way it sucked.

The process was arduous but the end result was great.  Brian says it’s awesome.  Most people say they can’t see the original tattoo underneath the new one.  Jen and I can still kind of see it but someone who doesn’t know what the original one looks like would have a truly difficult time.  And yes, I’ve verified this.  Dan does an amazing job with cover ups.

Anyway, woke up Wednesday and didn’t feel like taking a shower.  Yes, I am a wuss.  Besides, I wasn’t feeling too good anyhow.  So I ended up missing school and work.  I was thinking this is great!  I can use the time to study for my Macro exam.

I read my chapters and then took the online quizzes.  Aced them.  At this point I was feeling pretty good.  I was like totally confident going into the exam on Thursday.  But, lo and behold, the exam was nothing like the online quizzes.  I’d be lucky to pass it.  What a nightmare!

Today’s shopping spree with Jen made me feel a little better though.  But I’m still ticked off that I could potentially drop down to a B in this class.  My goal for this semester was straight A’s.  I hope I can hang in there!

Tonight Brian and I are having dinner at my favorite place, Red Rock Canyon Grill.  I’m so excited!  I know exactly what I want: house salad with adobe (I don’t know why they call it that, but it’s super yummy) dressing and crab cakes.  Yum, yum!  Then we are going to see Love Actually.  Fun, fun!

But when all is said and done, I’ve still got that crappy exam grade to look forward to next week.  Hopefully I’ll get lucky.  Cross your fingers.
