The Best Wife Ever!
Posted on July 15, 2012 by Brian under Life, Relationship.
See that woman hanging on my shoulder. If there was a “Best Wife in America”, she would win it, every year.
She is the most supportive, understanding and loving wife. When I am down, she cheers me up, if I have one of my self doubting moments (and I have quite a few) she kicks me in the ass and tells me to suck it up and do better. Because of her I am a better person.
Now, I know that everyone says that about their wives, but I am actually a better person because of my wife. You see, before I met my wife I was very content on just doing the bare minimum to get by. After I met my wife she started improving herself, getting a better job, getting a better education. After a while I realized that just doing the bare minimum was not going to be enough for her. I loved her so much that I was worried that she would wake up one day and look at me and realize that she could do better. So I tried improving my self in the ways that I knew how. I improved my personality (it used to be pretty bad), I improved the way I looked (that was also somewhat bad), I improved my job (actually trying for promotions instead of just doing the easy things) and then realized that I could improve myself further and further. I was amazed at how much I could improve if I just applied myself a little. If I had not met my wife, I would have never realized what I could accomplish.
I am so grateful for all that she has given me. Without her I would not be the person I am today. I hope that I can continue to improve myself and make you proud.
I love you baby. Forever and always.
(As a bonus, she is also beautiful and intelligent.)

The Busiest of Saturdays
Posted on July 3, 2012 by Ching under Family, Life.
I’m so glad that we don’t have to work tomorrow because I could use a break. We were so busy last weekend that I actually had to drive myself around on Saturday. I took this photo while driving behind Brian on Kellogg. Don’t worry. Traffic was stopped. I wouldn’t mess with my phone while I’m driving. I know better.
Brian got up super early on Saturday to help his dad move some things to their storage unit. They wanted to beat the heat, but Brian also wanted to get done in time for racquetball. As for me, I had a date with one of my Zumba buddies and was due at Northwest YMCA for Mary Anne’s Zumba class at 9:30 AM. Even after I picked up my Scooter’s on the way, I still got there over a half an hour early. It worked out perfect though because I had to pay for my day pass and find my way around.
After the first Zumba class, I zoomed over to South YMCA for racquetball with the guys. Jay’s friend Jason, who we used to play poker with at Uncle Roy’s, was there so we got to play doubles. Jay and I made a great team and kicked butt. We played two games and won both. We finished the second game just in time for me to take Adriana’s Zumba class, which also happened to be at South YMCA. I didn’t have to drive anywhere since I was already there. It worked out great.
We had just enough time to meet mom at a house that we wanted to see after my second Zumba class. We were starving, but didn’t have time to stop for a bite. When we arrived at the house, Reuel and his wife Sonnie Jay were there. That was a nice surprise. They had just arrived that morning from Chicago and New York and Norway.
Reuel is my Norwegian cousin. He lives in Norway with his wife. They’re here in the US on holiday, or so the Europeans call it. Their first stop was New York. Now they’re in Kansas visiting us. Next up is either Vegas or San Francisco. They haven’t decided yet.
As luck would have it, none of them had eaten lunch yet either so we all ended up at Louie’s after we got done looking at the house. It was nice to sit down and catch up. After that, we had to run over to the Yoder Meats store at Central and Woodlawn to pick up some BBQ chicken for the cookout at mom and dad’s the next day. We had to pick up the meat on Saturday because YM is closed on Sundays.
As soon as we got home, we had to put the beers in a cooler full of ice so they would be chilled in time for Cory and April’s dinner party that night. In the meantime, Brian had to take off and run over to Jay and Becca’s to help them set up a pool that they purchased for their cookout/party on Sunday. Jay needed help getting it set up before we all had to be at Cory and April’s that night.
I had a little bit of time to rest and enjoy my shower, which I deserved after along day of working out and running around. Brian got home with barely enough time to get a quick shower in. We arrived at the Phelpi’s late, but we weren’t the last ones at least. That honor belongs to Jay and Becca. LOL.
Cory and April were wonderful hosts. We had a great time on Saturday night. Thank you so much for having us over and feeding us all yummy fajitas! I ate way too much! I was trying to make up for all the calories I burned earlier in the day. Though I think I might have over-compensated.

Brian is Handsome Again
Posted on June 24, 2012 by Ching under Health, Life.
Here’s Brian with his new porcelain crown installed.
Ah, much better! Anyway, crowns while you wait is just one of the many perks of going to Wichita Family Dental.
Besides being located within walking distance from our place, being open every other Saturday (so I don’t have to miss work for most of my dental appointments), and offering Invisalign (so I don’t have to be referred to a different dentist for orthodontics), they now have free bottled water and cookies in the lobby and they also have free wifi so you have something to do while you wait (besides just reading outdated magazines).
They also offer every flavor of toothpaste imaginable. It makes for more pleasant dental cleanings at check up time. I love, love, love our dentist.

All I have to say is, I’m really glad we have dental insurance. As handsome as my husband is, he is downright ugly with bad teeth. LOL. Who knew that teeth could make so much difference on the way you look? Okay, so my mom did. Thus, the investment she’s made on her smile that’s equivalent to a brand new luxury car.
As for me, I had no idea it would make this much difference. Let this be a lesson to everyone. Take care of your teeth so you don’t end up looking like this guy when you get older. Either that or get really good dental insurance.

Pool Time with the Dills
Posted on June 17, 2012 by Ching under Life, Movies.
Jay and Becca hung out at the pool with us on Saturday night. There’s never anyone at our pool on Friday and Saturday nights so we pretty much had the pool to ourselves.
We had a good ol’ time frolicking in and out of the water.
Afterwards it was time for flaming quesaDILLas.
Okay, so they weren’t really flaming. But they were delicious. Good job, Jay and Brian. We all agreed this was the best batch of quesadillas the boys ever made.
Then it was time for The Vow, which made me cry but that doesn’t really say much. Almost every movie makes me cry. It starts out really rough and hokey. I mean, what was up with Rachel McAdams’ hair in the beginning of the movie? She looked like she was wearing a wig. The movie does get better towards the end. About the same time that Rachel’s hair starts looking normal. LOL. I don’t know if you guys saw Serendipity with Kate Beckinsdale and John Cusack a few years back, but how The Vow ends kind of reminds me of that movie.
Anyway, Becca is completely enamored with Channing Tatum. He’s got a nice body and everything, but he just doesn’t seem that attractive to me. It could be that he’s too young. I mean, if I had a choice between Jason Statham and Channing Tatum, I’d pick JS every time. Now, that’s one sexy man.
Speaking of, Brian and I hung out at the pool again today and saw a guy who resembled a young JS. I think it might have been the shaved head and the aviator glasses he was wearing. I told Brian we needed to get him some of those. LOL. Although, I think Brian will look more like Bruce Willis than JS when the time comes. Either way works for me. I think BW is sexy too.
Who wants to go swimming with us next weekend?
