Ching’s New Shoes

Posted on January 10, 2011 by under Wishlist.

I got some Christmas money from my biological father (Fredo) so I went on a bit of a shopping spree over the weekend. My first stop was a manicure and pedicure at Mani | Pedi (on 37th Street; next to Orange Leaf) with April.

I felt a little bad because I hadn’t shaved my legs in over a week. LOL. That’s what happens when you’re married, though. Unless you are married to Cory. I guess he is really picky about that stuff. I told April that if you let your leg hairs grow out long enough then they’re not prickly anymore. They just feel a little fuzzy. =P

I felt worse when Angel took over. He was probably thinking, “Man this chick has hairy legs!” He was a good sport and didn’t say anything, though. Of course, he might have been making fun of my hairy legs in Vietnamese, and I just couldn’t understand it.

Fredo gave me enough cash for the nail spa, some frozen yogurt from Orange Leaf (next door), a red wool peacoat (to replace my red Abercrombie one that I’ve outgrown; I got this new one at Sam’s Club and it was a fraction of the cost), a black rain trench (to replace the Guess one that I’d gotten from Wilsons Leather a couple of years ago that has been continually losing buttons), a couple of pairs of Injinji socks, and a pair of Vibram FiveFingers.

Brian had gotten a pair last month, but they are a little pricey so I didn’t get any. He’d been wanting a pair since the beginning of the year so he deserved them.

Rather than lose my money at the tables in Vegas, I figured that I would buy myself a pair. I’ve always been pretty pragmatic. The FiveFingers were the only thing relatively expensive out of all the things I bought. Everything else was pretty cheap. In fact, I think I still have some cash left over. I’m thinking I may use it for some more Orange Leaf. Brian’s never tried it. 🙂

I tried to break in my new FiveFingers, which I’d gotten on Saturday, yesterday while we were at Sam’s picking up some essentials. Except it started snowing and the ground was covered in snow by the time we got out of the store. It wasn’t my most brilliant idea. Brian and I got a kick out of our footprints, though. Our footprints looked like someone had walked in the snow barefoot.

I was going to try them at Zumba today, but I didn’t make it because of work and weather. I’m debating on whether to go to Zumba tomorrow. I think I should because I really need to take the shoes out for a test run. Have any of you guys worn FiveFingers? How do you like them?

Kudos to Jay and Becca for getting us a good room on Fremont Street.

I liked the spacious bathroom with double sinks.

Housekeeping at the Golden Nugget was sub par, but Brian liked the gigantic square shower head.

Not that you would actually spend a lot of time in your room, but I liked that they provided a DVD player. There was also an iHome on the nightstand.

They also gave us a couple of robes, but Brian didn’t use his.

I would stay at Rush Tower again, but they’re going to have to do a better job of cleaning the rooms next time! =P

Please Keep Virginia in Your Prayers

Posted on January 9, 2011 by under Life.

We went to visit a friend of ours at the hospital the other day. We meant to visit her last Sunday but, as you all know, we were trapped in Vegas. Anyway, we went to Dillons after Zumba on Thursday night but we were too late. Their flower shop closed at 7 pm. It worked out okay though, because we picked up an orchid (one of my favorite flowers) instead. They last longer, too. (Forever, if you don’t kill it. LOL.)

Brian picked this one out because it had two stems full of blooms. He said the others only had one. I wanted to name it, but he refused to let me. He said since it will be Virginia’s plant, then she gets the honor of naming it (if she so chooses).

Virginia seemed to be doing better when we came to visit her on Friday. She’s still in a lot of pain, though. It will take some time for her to fully recover. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

P.S. Unfortunately, only one of the stems survived. The other stem broke while I was trying to rearrange it on Friday morning. 🙁

Yet Another Casey Abay Sighting

We seem to always run into Casey unexpectedly. Our rock star sighting took place on the morning of December 29, Wednesday. Casey was on his way back to Austin. Brian and I were on our way to Las Vegas for NYE.

Casey looked so very rock star that I almost asked for his autograph right then and there. He’s going to be famous one day and I’ll be to say, “I knew that guy when he was still in diapers!” LOL.

Coupons!

Posted on January 9, 2011 by under Coupons.

I got $110 in P&G coupons. Woot! I probably won’t use all of these. Let me know if there are specific ones you need. I can trade for other coupons or I can just straight give the ones away that I for sure won’t use. 🙂
