Online Poker

The first time Brian tried online poker he didn’t like it. He said he didn’t have a clue what he was doing. So we decided to sit together and play as one person. Actually, he played and I was his advisor. He’d ask me, “Do I call, fold, raise?” It made me feel good, being the beginner that I am, to be able to show someone how to play (it’s not like he had much of a choice, we’re the only two people living here). I’d give him silly suggestions like, wait at least five to ten seconds before you raise or don’t raise too much money or too quickly so they don’t think you have a really good hand and they’ll stay in.. Or don’t think about it too long before you call because they’ll know you have a crappier hand than they do.. Or if this guy (someone who we’ve observed never bluffs) bets high just fold because he probably has a really good hand. It’s silly but you can kind of tell what type of hand they have based on the way they play and react. As for me, I’m just glad that it’s online and not in person because even though I can control how quickly or slowly I click on the button I’m not able to control my many facial expressions that, for sure, give me away.
