I Have Bronchiolitis

My Medical Treatment

The doc prescribed me both Advair and Albuterol for my bronchiolitis. It’s some kind of lung infection. I don’t know how I caught it but it’s supposed to be contagious so I won’t be kissing on Brian for a while. I figured it was contagious when the doc stood in the farthest corner of the examination room after I coughed.

Seriously, though, it’s not contagious if it’s just close proximity. If I cough into my hands and touch another person’s face then they’ll be succeptible to the virus. Anyway, I have antibacterial gel so I’m just supposed to rub that stuff in my hands after each coughing fit.

By the way, these inhalers aren’t the easiest to use. I guess that maybe because I’ve never used them before. For my Albuterol treatment, I’m supposed to get rid of all the air in my lungs, gradually inhale as I push on the inhaler, then I am to hold my breath for ten seconds to ensure that the medicine reaches my lungs. I don’t know about you, but that’s a lot of coordination. It made me think of letting go of the clutch slowly as you press on the accelerator. It has to be just right, otherwise you choke your vehicle. See the analogy?

Brian said I should’ve told the doctor that I can’t drive a stick, maybe he would’ve given me something else. I told him I tried. I asked for liquid medicine that I can drink but he said that the infection is in my lungs not my stomach so that’s where we want the medicine to go. Anyway, I’m supposed to take two puffs of the Advair once daily until it’s all gone and then two puffs of the Albuterol every four to six hours until I am no longer wheezing. I should be an expert at giving myself my inhaler treatments after a day or so.

I also did some research and I read that I should be better in about three to four days. Just in time for graduation!
