Stupid Neighborhood

Posted on April 15, 2005 by under Life.

I’ve always told Brian that we lived in the ghetto and he always insisted that we didn’t. Today, I was proved right. Brian came home late tonight because he picked his mom up from her work and drove her home, then he went to Lowe’s to get us a new garbage disposal (we killed ours), then Dillon’s for stamps and Pepsi, then he went to Sumo (currently on North Rock Road but will be relocating to 13th and Greenwich soon; they make the best sushi in Wichita) to get sushi and he brought me dinner at work. When he finally arrived home, he said that the neighbor on our left told him that some neighborhood kids tried to break into our house around three o’clock this afternoon. Brian said that he confirmed this because when he checked the front door the hardware was loose. They almost pulled the handle out. I figured with our house looking dilapidated and unkempt on the outside (our house looks worse on the inside, trust me), we were safe from burglars. Who would even think that there is anything of value inside this house? That is just dumb. I guess now that the gutters are fixed our house looks semi-decent and break-in worthy. I hate these dumb teenagers! No offense to the non-dumb ones. I told Brian that he needs to put signs on the doors and windows that say, “If you try to break into our house again we will kill all of you, and your families, and your dogs, and your cats, and your cousins, and your uncles, and your aunts, and your friends, and your teachers, and your ferrets, and your imaginary friends, and your parole officer.” I think it will be much more effective than the stolen ADT signs. People think twice about breaking into the home of a lunatic, you know. Anyway, Brian said that he and his dad burglar-proofed the house so I guess we can at least sleep soundly tonight. Thanks, Dad B! 🙂
