They Have Food at Pumphouse
Posted on March 9, 2013 by Ching under Food and Drink.
We met Brian’s bosses and coworkers at the Pumphouse before the hockey game on Friday night. Apparently they serve food there. I had no idea. I guess I’d never been there that early in the evening before. The few times that I’ve been there has usually been late in the evening and I’m pretty sure their kitchen was closed by then, which explains why I had no idea you could actually eat there.
I didn’t get to taste the food because Brian and I had dinner at Sabor beforehand. The food looked pretty good, though. I might even consider eating there some time.

Our Dinner at Sabor
Posted on March 9, 2013 by Ching under Food and Drink.
Brian and I had dinner at Sabor before the hockey game last night. Brian was a little disappointed that the fried plantain chips weren’t fresh. I had to remind him that when the chips are fresh they’re usually greasy so it’s not so bad that these are completely fresh. Besides, they’re probably fresh. Just not hot off the fryer.
Brian had the fire roasted chicken with mashed potatoes and the fiery habanero sauce.
I had the adobo pork, which is what I normally get. It wasn’t a good as it usually is, but still tasty. It had been a while since we’d been to Sabor last so I asked for a variety of sauces.
I tried the mango sofrito, chimichurri, orange poblano (which is like the old orange garlic mojo), and the red wine mole. I normally like the orange garlic mojo, but last night I liked the red wine mole sauce best.
Sabor is good, but it’s just not the same since Chef Jason hasn’t been the executive chef there. They used to be so awesome. I guess you can’t expect everything to stay the same after five years.

Calzones at the Phelpi
Posted on March 9, 2013 by Ching under Life.
When we watched The Walking Dead at Cory and April’s last weekend, April set up a create-your-own calzone station for us. It was really cool.
There were a variety of fillings to choose from.
Here’s Brian making his calzone.
Here’s Cory making one.
And April. We all just took turns at the calzone creation station basically.
After we made them, the calzones went in the oven for about 10 to 15 minutes and they were done. They didn’t need to be in the oven long because all of the fillings were already pre-cooked. This is my finished calzone. I wrote a C so I could identify it when it came out of the oven.
The calzones were yummy. Great idea, Cory and April!
Gavin modeled is plethora of hats for me over dinner.
I didn’t take a picture of him each time he came out with a different hat because he had too many. Apparently, Gavin loves hats. The best part is that he can remember where each hat is from or at least the first time he wore them. What a smart kid!

Saturday Afternoon at Bullseye
Posted on March 4, 2013 by Ching under Family, Things to Do.
We had a great time shooting with our family and friends at Bullseye.
I got to shoot Chad’s 44 magnum. Apparently it’s the same kind of gun that Dirty Harry uses. It’s big, scary, makes a loud noise, and has quite a recoil.
Kim is a crack shot. I think it’s all of her Black Ops experience. LOL.
Brian shoots with a style all his own.
I liked that we had shooting lanes adjacent to one another so it was like having one wide shooting lane. We all got to go from lane to lane to lane just shooting various guns. Definitely more fun than shooting the same gun the whole time.
Mom and dad showed up later so they had to wait a while on the waiting list.
Brian was happy that he got to shoot dad’s carbine.
Here’s Brian admiring his work.
I love when Chad comes because he has so many guns. His Walther P22 is my favorite. I think I might get one next year.
Here’s mom and dad shooting after we left. Thank you so much to everyone who came shooting with us. We had a great time. Hope to do it again soon.

Picasso’s Pizzeria
Posted on March 4, 2013 by Ching under Food and Drink.
We ended up at Picasso’s Pizzeria on Saturday when we were denied at the food truck rally downtown. We wanted to get some Flying Stove but, as it turns out, everyone in Wichita had the same idea. It didn’t help matters that the home show was going on at Century II. Lots of hungry people meant long lines and even longer waits. Thus, we ended up at Picasso’s.
Cory and April had been there before but it was mine and Brian’s first time. Misty and her niece joined us because they didn’t want to wait an hour for food at the food truck rally. It was their first time at Picasso’s also. The food was pretty good.
Here are some photos…
Their pizzas are huge. Brian and I decided to just split one. We got the heart attack.
April’s pizza looked super yummy also.
Cory had a sandwich.
He shared his cheesy bread with us also.
Picasso’s serves good food. I’d go there again.
