My Favorite Time of Year is Here

Posted on October 26, 2014 by under Family, Toys.

Fall is my favorite time of year not just because my birthday falls during this season and I milk every stinking second of it and force everyone to be nice to me, but because the weather is absolutely perfect. It’s neither too hot nor too cold and the foliage begins to change colors. It’s probably prettier in New England but, even in Kansas, Fall is breathtaking. I love Fall!

We had some fantastic weather this weekend so we took advantage of it and drove around in Alex, the newest member of our household fleet.

Grandma was super excited to ride in Alex yesterday citing that it’s her first time riding in a convertible in all of her 92 years. Brian was like, “Had I known she we be so excited to ride in a convertible I would have gotten one years ago.”

Alex is definitely flashier than Bebot but to me, a car is a car. I actually still prefer driving around in Bebot so I’ve only driven Alex a couple of times. Brian gets to drive Alex a lot more than I do even though Alex is technically my birthday present.

I know, I know. My new Frye boots and my new iPhone were supposed to be my birthday presents but I’m milking this birthday thing, remember?

Anyway, since we haven’t given Brian’s truck to his dad yet (we promised Jenni that we would help her move so we’re hanging on to the truck until then) I’m either driving the truck or Bebot. Mostly because Bebot has great gas mileage.

My little sister Nickira noticed Alex in garage last week when we came home to say hi to Brian after spending the afternoon at the Wichita Art Museum and the Keeper of the Plains. She was curious about the new vehicle because she hadn’t seen it before and wanted to know whose it was. After she found out it was mine, she wanted to ride in it. It’s amazing to me how a ten year old can tell the difference between cars and know that one is better than the other. I suppose Bebot can’t transform into a convertible but the top was up on Alex the first time she saw the car parked in the garage yet it still intrigued her. Maybe it’s mostly that she hadn’t seen it before? Whatever the case may be, I found her reaction to Alex quite interesting.

Here are some more pictures of Alex. Enjoy!

Yes, I Caved and Joined the Other Team

Posted on October 19, 2014 by under Toys.

Up until a few weeks ago I was a loyal Samsung Galaxy user. I finally caved and switched when the iPhone 6 was released. The timing was just so perfect. They released the phones right before my birthday month. I couldn’t pass it up.

I opted for the smaller iPhone 6 rather than the iPhone 6 Plus but I saw this hilarious post from the Onion some time ago and I just have to share it. If you still cannot decide between the two phones, here’s all you need to know.

There are significant differences in the way the two phones work, but everything that I could do on my Samsung Galaxy I can do on my iPhone and then some. I had an older Galaxy phone so my the new phone actually has even more features. I’m still trying to get used to my new phone and learn everything that it can do, though.

I’ve had my phone about a month but I still find myself trying to hit a non-existent back button, trying to save screen captures by sliding the side of my hand across the screen, swiping down to turn my wi-fi and bluetooth on instead of swiping up, etc. Old habits are hard to break, I guess.

I do love my new phone, though. My favorite part is how Brian’s beautiful face fills the screen every time he calls me.

I love this man so much, with or without the awesome birthday presents. 😉

(Oh and, as you can tell, I figured out how make screen shots.)

My First Time at Roller City

Posted on October 13, 2014 by under Food and Drink, Things to Do.

Kira wanted to go skating so we took her to Roller City on Saturday. I don’t know how to skate so Brian went with us.

image

I’m so glad he did because he was able to skate with Kira while I clung to the walls for dear life. Brian used to be a floor guard so he can skate forwards and backwards. I, on the other hand, never learned how and can barely stay on my feet.

image

Here are a couple of videos of Kira and Brian skating.

Brian showing off his skating prowess.

Saturday was my first time at Roller City and it was Kira’s first time at Ziggy’s Pizza, my favorite pizza joint.

image

We got to experience a couple of firsts together.

image

We had the all meat pizza and wings.

image

The barbecue chicken wings were yummy!

image

Everything was delicious as always.

image

The root beer float was the best part. It came in chilled glass goblet bigger than Kira’s head. Brian and I agreed we would go back just for the root beer float.

We had an awesome outing overall. No broken bones except for the ones that were in the chicken wings. LOL.

Ziggy’s Pizza is the perfect end to any outing. Even if I took some tumbles at the skating rink, the amazing food at Ziggy’s would have made it all better. Their food is not just delicious. It’s magical. If you’ve never been to Ziggy’s, I highly recommend it. Their $13 pizzas are more than enough to feed three people so it’s a great value. It’s a fantastic dinner option that won’t break the bank. I’m just glad we don’t live any closer or we’d be there every night.

What Happened Last Week

View from the Nest at the Oread…

I love training held at the Oread because we got to enjoy views like these. The only down side is that I have to be away from home. Of course, I get to look forward to coming home to my two babies.

image

Except, I don’t think they missed me. This is what I came home to on Wednesday. =P

image

Our Customer Experience meeting at the Holiday Inn ended at four o’clock on Thursday so I had time help grandma with her computer, which worked out great since Brian has to work until five now. He also had to stop by the car repair shop to pick up Bebot.

image

After grandma’s computer was fixed, she showed me her word search game.

image

I didn’t have Kira on Thursday night so we were able to partake of $12 sangria pitchers at Taste & See. Misty joined us for dinner. Here are some pictures of our food…

Taste & See 2 on Urbanspoon

I didn’t get a picture of the queso fondue which is our favorite starter at the restaurant. Misty hadn’t tried it before. I think we converted another.

Dinner was delicious and it was nice to be able to catch up with Misty. It’s been a while.

I had my Leadership Wichita session on Friday, which is worthy of its very own blog post. After our session Brian had a meeting at Wichita State for the fitness device study that he’s part of. He’s testing his third fitness device: Basis.

image

It’s the one he thought he wanted, but he actually doesn’t like as much now that he’s tried a couple of other fitness devices. I’m glad he’s part of the test group, otherwise we would have bought him something that he would quickly tire of and then eventually not use. After this one, he has three more fitness devices to test.

It’s past my bed time so I’ll hold off posting about the weekend until tomorrow. And, I still need to post a Leadership Wichita update. So stay tuned!

Until next time,
Ching

715 Restaurant

Posted on October 12, 2014 by under Food and Drink.

Since I was in Lawrence last week, I had an opportunity to have lunch at my favorite restaurant on Mass Street. I’ve eaten there a few times over the years but it wasn’t until last week that I realized I’ve been saying the name wrong. LOL.

Here are some pictures of our food…

Granted, this recent dining experience was not as awesome as previous dining experiences here. This was my first time having lunch here. I think dinner is just better than lunch period. I still recommend the restaurant. The food is on the expensive side, but it’s good. If you go, go for dinner. That would be my suggestion.

P.S. I kept calling it Seven-Fifteen, but it’s actually called Seven-One-Five. I’d never heard anyone say the name of the restaurant because I rarely ever meet people who’ve dined there. Now I know how to say it correctly.
