Fancy Group Dinner at the Brass Onion
Posted on June 24, 2022 by Ching under Food and Drink, Travel.
Our group decided to meet up at Brass Onion at the Prairiefire shopping district in Overland Park. The food was very good but also quite expensive. As in, I spent almost $100 on my own dinner tab. I literally took a picture of my tab because I was convinced Brian would never believe that it only fed one person.
Good thing Ryan and I won our division and made some money that weekend because we spent almost every bit of it on dinner that night. LOL.
Here are some pictures of our food..
Definitely enjoyed the Brass Onion but definitely wouldn’t be able to eat there all the time. But I am looking forward to the next time.

WPT Kansas City Pickleball Classic
Posted on June 17, 2022 by Ching under Pickleball.
Pictures from my very first World Pickleball Tour tournament. The tournament was held at Elite Tennis and Wellness in Overland Park. It’s a beautiful facility less than five minutes from the Overland Park Chicken N Pickle.
I had a blast playing doubles with Kimberly Howe. We met so many amazing women, made new friends, and we earned bronze in our division.
It was a rainy weekend with just enough bits of sunshine (and extreme heat and humidity) to get the matches completed.
Ryan and I ended up winning our division.
I got to see (and play against) my friend Kat Tomlin, who beat me at singles 15-13.
I also saw my KC friends Karly Gleason (was Williams) and Liz Sharp.
And I got bronze in singles. Overall, not a bad weekend.
I really enjoyed my very first WPT tournament and highly recommend playing in their events. You can find upcoming tournaments here.
Until next time, GNG.

Tanners in Overland Park
Posted on June 16, 2022 by Ching under Food and Drink.
I traveled to Overland Park to play in the World Pickleball Tour Kansas City Classic Pickleball Tournament last month. Dinner on Friday was at Tanners. Our group consisted of Cory and Molly Sager, Kimberly Howe, Ramon Lozano, and me.
Here are pictures of our dinner that night.
Tanners was great. I remember we used to have one here in Wichita at 21st and Woodlawn, Brittany Center shopping area. After eating at the one at Overland Park, I kind of wish that we still had it here.
Until next time, GNG.

Dining by the Alphabet – Parts E & F
Posted on June 15, 2022 by Ching under Food and Drink.
As with any project, Brian and I have been making slow progress. We are halfway through the year and we are only up to the letter F. Oops! Here’s all the restaurants we have visited to date.
This city has a lot of Mexican restaurants so for letters E and F that’s where we ended up. Here are pictures from our delicious dinner at El Agave on North Rock Road a few weeks ago.
You can’t really go wrong with Mexican food. I could eat it everyday if needed (and when we travel with our friends Donnie and Tiffany Lesperance, that’s actually what we have to do because Mexican food is all they ever want to eat). No complaints here.
These next two pictures were from Fuzzy’s Taco Shop for the letter F. We originally planned on going to Fizz Burgers and Bottles but tacos ultimately won out.
Tacos > burgers. Always. Until next time, GNG.

Mother’s Day 2022
Posted on June 14, 2022 by Ching under Community, Pickleball.
I spend so much time at Chicken N Pickle that it was only fitting that I spent my Mother’s Day there. They had the best Mother’s Day brunch and mimosa bar!
They had various fruit juices that you could use to mix with champagne and a wide array of fruits for flavor and garnish. It made me want to throw a mimosa party at my house but then I thought of all the work to prep all those fruits and I was like, “I’ll just wait until they have another one of these.” LOL.
These were the best mimosas ever!
Here’s a picture of Huyen’s breakfast. She got the Mother’s Day skillet.
Here’s Huyen double-fisting the mimosas.
FUN FACT — When I first met Huyen a couple of years ago, I found out that I am bout the same age as her mother. Since her mother doesn’t play pickleball and I don’t have a child, we’ve kind of adopted each other. Plus, most people who see us think we are mother-and-daughter anyway so we decided to just roll with it.
We played in the Mother’s Day tournament at Chicken N Pickle and played against “real” mother-and-daughter duo Stacy and Brittney Wessley. It was so much fun! Specially since Huyen and I finally got to wear one of our matching skirts.
This fall, Huyen and I will get to play in a real tournament together when we play in the Tulsa Pickleball Classic. I can’t wait to see how many more people we can convince that we’re mother and daughter. LOL.
Until next time, GNG.
