Christmas at Old Cowtown Museum
Posted on December 13, 2010 by Ching under Things to Do.
Santa was at Cowtown the other day!
We got to watch the saloon girls perform.
We got to watch a Victorian social dance.
A couple of regulars at Suede actually volunteer at Old Cowtown Museum and are part of the Entre Nous Club, the museum’s Victorian dance troupe.
Brian and I had so much fun at Cowtown that we are thinking of returning in a couple of weeks. Except, we want to go during the day next time. It was way too cold to be walking around outside the other night. How about December 27? What’s everyone doing on that day? Let’s all go to Cowtown!

Brian’s New Shoes
Posted on December 13, 2010 by Ching under Wishlist.
Brian got his Christmas present early. 🙂
Actually, Brian and I told each other that we wouldn’t buy presents for each other this year because our New Year’s Eve trip to Las Vegas is supposed to be our Christmas. However, I did promise him that he could get his Vibram FiveFingers TREKSPORT shoes early so that he could bring them to Vegas and wear them on the trip. We had looked at them a few months ago at Backwoods and decided to wait. Brian got his day the other day. Merry Christmas, baby!
He got some matching Injinji because you can’t wear regular socks with FiveFingers. LOL. Here’s what the shoes look like on…
They look weird, don’t they? I’ve been seeing more and more people wearing them around town, though. There’s a guy who wears them to muscle pump at North YMCA and a woman who wears them to Zumba at the East branch.
This is Jay checking them out…
They came over for a nightcap the other night, after Becca won the 7:30 pm poker tournament at the Players Club. Congrats, Becca! We had some wine and cheese (our favorite kind) and Triscuits, and we gave them a couple of ornaments for their Christmas tree that we picked up at Old Cowtown Museum. I’ll try to post our Cowtown photos in the next couple of days so come back soon.

Ching’s Attire

Me, in my “ugly holiday sweater.” Blech. I looked really dorky, I know. I wonder how I ended up with such a good looking husband sometimes…

Brian’s Attire

This is what Brian wore to the holiday party, in lieu of an “ugly holiday sweater” (which he adamantly refused to wear). What do you guys think of his attire?
I thought he looked pretty sexy. 😉

Work Holiday Party in Council Grove
Posted on December 12, 2010 by Ching under Life.
Here are some of the better photos from our work holiday party the other night. That’s Travis and Isaac on the left. Isaac had this great idea for everyone to show up to the holiday party wearing “ugly holiday sweaters” and so we did. That’s Carmen in the photo with me on the right. She borrowed a really festive sweater from her mom. I found mine at the DAV earlier this week.
Joni and Nick wore matching sweater vests. Not intentionally. They just happened to pick up the exact same ones at Walmart.
It’s funny because the $2 Christmas tree earrings that Angie gave me actually cost more than my sweater. LOL.
Isaac’s wife Crystal was actually game for the whole “ugly holiday sweater” thing, but didn’t end up wearing hers because it was too big on her. She said it made her look pregnant. LOL. Brian, on the other hand, didn’t wear a holiday sweater because he’s a party pooper. We stuck him with the reindeer headband, though.

Here’s a photo of our festive group (those who donned their “ugly holiday sweaters” anyhow). Darcy couldn’t make it because her house closing (which had gotten rescheduled multiple times already) got moved to Friday afternoon. She wouldn’t have worn an ugly sweater even if she could have made, though. I think it’s against her religion to wear anything tacky. I rather enjoyed wearing my tacky sweater and showing my fun side. I have a feeling that most people find me uptight and straight-laced at work. I think I’m going to make it a tradition to wear an “ugly holiday sweater” to at least one Christmas party every year from now on.
Everyone who attended seemed to have a jolly good time. However, I was a bit disappointed that no Dundies were awarded that night. Kidding aside, much gratitude goes out to our big boss Terry (not big in size, but big in leadership and importance and heart) for throwing us a holiday party and to Coleen for organizing it. 🙂
