Fly By Night
Posted on February 5, 2009 by Ching under Videos.
I’m in a bit of a Rush kick lately. Here are my favorite early Rush songs (1980 and prior), not in any particular order:
- Freewill (Permanent Waves)
- The Spirit of Radio (Permanent Waves)
- Closer to the Heart (A Farewell to Kings)
- Fly by Night (Fly by Night)
Fly by Night, A Farewell to Kings and Permanent Waves are my top three Rush albums from the 1968 to 1980 period. The other ones were a little too “out there” for me. I guess I prefer their more commercial, radio-friendly songs. I also liked them more when they started playing more progressive rock style, which began the year I was born (1977). I think that style suited Geddy’s vocals best. Freewill is my all-time favorite Rush song.

He’s Just Not That Into You
Posted on February 5, 2009 by Ching under Movies.
Does anyone else want to see this movie? I do, but Brian and I have vowed to watch Push this weekend. I think we might do a late show one night because we’ve got a busy weekend ahead.
We will save He’s Just Not That Into You for Valentines weekend. I think that would be a more appropriate V-day movie anyway. What about you guys? Any V-day plans?

What Would Bob Vila Do?
Posted on February 4, 2009 by Ching under Life.
Brian and I went to Home Depot today to pick up some drywall patching supplies. Because I am a nerd, I picked up a copy of their Home Improvement 1-2-3 book. I will take any excuse to add to my growing book collection. Oh, and this one comes with a bonus DVD! LOL.
Incidentally, the back of the book says it costs $19.97 but came out to only $14 and change when Brian rang it up. They must have been having some kind of book sale. I was so excited. Brian wondered what I was so happy about. I explained to him that I was willing to pay $20 for my book and it actually cost $5 less than I expected. I was happy that I saved money. Yeah, I know. I’m pretty easy to please.
BRIAN: You better use that book.
ME: I’m going to use to tell you how you’re supposed to do it!
We both laughed at that because he knows it’s true. I am going to be such a pain with my new book.
A few weeks ago, the day after the final day of our plumbing work, Brian and I actually had the following conversation in the bathroom while getting ready for work one morning.
“Are you sure you will be able to patch all the holes?” I asked him.
“Yes. Dad and I have patched many walls when we lived in the old house in Deerfield,” he assured me and then proceeded to tell me how he would go about patching the many holes that the plumber left.
“That’s not how Bob Vila would do it,” I blurted. My mouth works faster than my brain sometimes.
“I’m going to tell dad you said that,” he threatened. We both laughed and joked about getting WWBVD t-shirts made.

Heroes is Back!
Posted on February 3, 2009 by Ching under Reviews.
Heroes is back! Did you catch it last night? The roles are reversed. Ando now has an ability and Hiro is the sidekick. LOL. There are lots of surprises. Brian and I are looking forward to the twists and turns this season. The writers sure keep Heroes fans/viewers on their toes.
BTW, if you didn’t catch it last night you can always watch the full episodes on the NBC.com web site.
