Mokas – New Favorite Breakfast Spot
Posted on April 22, 2022 by Ching under Food and Drink.
Ever since my first visit to Mokas, it has quickly become my favorite breakfast spot. I loved it so much that I brought Brian there on Saturday before going to Tulip Time Festival at Botanica (more on this later).
As is his normal MO, Brian got the biscuits and gravy.
I had the chipotle breakfast sandwich which my friend Chris Townley had on an earlier visit. I remember having the breakfast slider, which was also good, but envying the big, beautiful breakfast sandwich that had two fried eggs, two sausage patties, and bacon. I decided that I would get that mouth-watering sandwich on my next trip to Mokas and that’s exactly what I did.
This is a picture of Chris’ sandwich. I ate my breakfast slider that morning, but secretly wished I had ordered the sandwich instead. LOL.
Here’s a picture of the slider but the chipotle breakfast sandwich was even better. If you can imagine that.
I’ve yet to try all they have to offer but I’ve pretty much decided that the chipotle breakfast sandwich is my favorite. Even Brian is convinced that’s what he’ll get the next time we are there. The fact that their biscuits and gravy is not nearly as good as Great Harvest’s probably helped him come to that conclusion.
On our last visit, we ran into the Albarracins which was an added bonus. This place is definitely worth checking out. Besides the chipotle breakfast sandwich, their coffee is pretty good too. Until next time, GNG.

Brew Bash at Chicken N Pickle
Posted on April 21, 2022 by Ching under Events.
Brian and I attended a beer tasting event at Chicken N Pickle benefiting League 42 a couple of weeks ago. Here are some pictures from that event.
While at the event, I picked up the Boulevard Brewing paddle that I won from the Chicken N Pickle March Madness bracket challenge.
Chicken N Pickle is not just a fun place to celebrate but they also do so much for our community. Check out their calendar for upcoming benefit pickleball tournaments and other charity events. Until next time, GNG.

Wichita Cheesecake Company
Posted on April 20, 2022 by Ching under Food and Drink.
Finally had the opportunity to try a Wichita Cheesecake Company cheesecake. Chris Townley had the New York style cheesecake while I had the apple cinnamon.
They had a few other flavors available that day but these were the two that we chose. We found out from the lady running the store that they have the best selection when they first open at eight o’clock in the morning. However, the Cargill and other employees in nearby offices usually clean them out so there’s limited flavors left in the afternoon. The most popular flavors go first, naturally.
You can order online from their website but there are way more options available when you go to the store in person. The cheesecakes are available in various sizes — single slice, 6 inch, 8 inch, 9 inch, or 10 inch. It’s definitely worth bringing to your next party (now that we are back to “gathering” again).
That’s all for now. Until next time, GNG.

First Time at Joy Tea
Posted on April 18, 2022 by Ching under Food and Drink.
I was really sad when the East side Churn and Burn closed but at the same time having them so conveniently located wasn’t really good for me. It was just too easy to swing by and grab a Swiss cafe mocha. Now, at least I have to think about it if I really want to have one.
The space sat empty for a while but a new boba tea business is there now, Joy Tea. It’s great because now I don’t have to drive all the way to ICTea to get my boba tea fix. Here are some pictures of the interior.
I had the strawberry butterfly drink with crystal boba and lychee jelly. It was what the cashier recommended but the add-ons were my choices. It was yummy!
They have so many flavors that it will take multiple trips to try them all. Brian’s not really into boba tea but I might have to drag him there next time.
Until then, GNG.

Late Lunch/Early Supper at Carrabba’s
Posted on April 17, 2022 by Ching under Food and Drink.
Here are some pictures from our late lunch/early supper at Carrabba’s not too long ago. We haven’t been there as much since our friend Joe Parten retired as GM. It’s not quite the same without him.
My friend Karen Fox had the house salad.
Brian and I split a Caesar’s salad.
Karen got a chicken parmigiana with fettuccini Alfredo for her entree.
Brian and I split the chicken Bryan with angel hair in pomodoro sauce (something that we always used to get consistently when dining at Carrabba’s) covered in lots of freshly grated parmesan cheese.
This is Karen’s pomegranate martini, which was yummy but not as photogenic as my drink. (See the next pic below.)
It was a new special drink they had.
Karen and I shared this delicious butter cake topped with vanilla ice cream topped with delicious fruit for dessert. I might have been the best butter cake I have ever had. It was a delicious as it was pretty!
Not sure if this is still on the menu — it was a special item at the time — because this visit was a few weeks ago (I am so behind on posting blogs) but if it still is then you must try it! Until next time, GNG.
