Do You See the Signs!

Posted on September 19, 2007 by under Life, News.

They are everywhere, signs of a break in our society. Signs of a civil war or at the least a fall in the structure of or nation. I have been watching the news and I have noticed an alarming trend. First you have the Federal Reserve lowering the national interest rate to help fight off what some people are calling the beginning to a new recession. If the country goes into another recession then you have companies that will lay off employees to cut cost, you have large concentrations of unemployed people that are now starving, trying to hold on to what they have. Recession brings crime and hatred from those less fortunate. To make matters worse you have people that are expressing there right to free speech getting arrested for simply wearing “Anti-Bush” t-shirts, or look at the collage student that was tazered for asking questions at a Kerry forum. Then there is Mike McConnell, the top U.S. Intelligence Spy Official asking Congress to lift the restrictions on privacy invasion, stating that the current laws are restricting there abilities to do there jobs effectively. Some congress officials believe that lifting this ban would allow the Intelligence department to spy on whom ever they wanted when ever they wanted. Currently there are restrictions limiting the spying to foreign persons on American soil. One statement stated that they can only spy on Americans if they they are following leads that will eventually lead them to a foreign person suspected of terrorist activity. Lifting that ban would allow them more access to more Americans and leave us open to be spied on by our own country for whatever reasons that the Intelligence department saw fit. To top it all off you now have a person that is wanting to sue God. Thats right, sue God. He states that he is doing it as a statement to tell the Judicial system that they need to open there doors to allow all kinds of lawsuits to be presented and tried. The reality of the situation is that we can not allow frivolous lawsuits like this to go into the system to be tried. We are wasting time, money and manpower trying case after case of some stupid person that is trying to make the Judicial system work for them just to make a quick buck.

Look at the direction our society, our country, is taking. I mean just writing this Blog could get someone in trouble if the right or wrong person reads it. When I grew up you said the pledge of allegiance in school every morning, now they don’t do that because it has the word God in it and not everyone believes in the same god, or sometimes not a God at all. I remember kids praying before they ate there lunch, now you cant do that because it may offend other people that don’t feel the same towards religion as you. All of this is leading to the decay of our society. We are becoming closed minded and have begun to narrow our vision to the real problems that exist in our world. We are more interested in saving the children that are starving in other countries but we wont lift a finger to save the children that are starving in our own country. We have celebrities that are adopting children from obscure villages in third world countries, not because they felt sorry for the child or because they felt that they could make a difference in that one child’s life. They adopt them because it puts them on a pedestal for the world to see, makes them seem more human than they themselves feel. They do it because it brings them ratings and makes those of us with bleeding hearts for this sort of compassion go and watch there movies. They do it for the publicity and nothing more. The world is fooled by these people. We are blinded by the glitter and glamor of a life we think we can not have. We are complacent in watching the world pass by on our 42 inch LCD TV that we got on sale at Best Buy on a credit card that we can barely pay the minimum balance on.

I think we could be a thriving country if we focused on bringing our society up Intellectually, offering education for free so that we push more and more people to learn. As it is, we have people that are undereducated because they can not afford to pay for school. There are more programs for foreign students to get an education in this country than there are for our own citizens to get an education I worked with a guy that was from Israel once, he told me that America was so dumb because he was getting all of these deferred loans to pay for school. He said that when he graduated that he was going back to Israel to work in the research facility that his father worked in and he would never pay the loans. All of the information that the loan company had would be for here in the United States. His degree was in Nuclear Physics. Now hows that for Irony, we just provided a free education to a person from a foreign country that will be working in a field that could build weapons that could annihilate us.

As a nation if we drove education instead of material wealth, glamor or fame, then we would truly be formidable in the eyes of our fellow countries. It would make a statement of change and create a template for other countries to follow. In time we could build a society that would be above greed, wealth and material monotony. This isn’t the America that I grew up with , I don’t see the avid patriot putting up his flag on those special holidays. I don’t see the neighborhood watching out for each others kids and sitting together having tea or coffee talking about what plans they had for the weekend. Now I see neighbors fighting over lawn ornaments that they feel are offensive or don’t belong. I see parents not even watching there own kids, but are quick to blame the rest of the world when there kid does something colossally stupid like shoot up a school. I see a society that is falling apart at the seams with only a handful of people that are making the effort to keep it together. I see a country that is falling into decay and ruin and no one is making the effort to stop it. The next step for this country is a complete collapse in its social structure, after that you will see civil war then only God knows what will become of us all.
