Celebrating with Family

Here are some select pictures from our family gathering yesterday. We were celebrating Brian’s birthday, his grandmother’s birthday, and Father’s Day all in one. You may view all the photos here.
Everyone met up at B&C BBQ for lunch. Everyone being Brian’s grandparents, Brian’s parents, Chad, Brian and I. Mom and dad came, too. So that was nice. It usually takes an act of God to get dad out of the house. I’m really glad they could make it.
We gave everyone their gifts which Brian and I purchased and wrapped almost a month ago. We went the easy route this time and just got movies for all the dads. We got Happy Feet for grandpa, Smokin’ Aces for Dave, and The Greatest Game Ever Played for my dad. Since everyone is getting into golf, Logan and Jen included, we figured it would be appropriate. Plus, it is such a great movie.
Our biggest splurge was our birthday gift for grandma: a large-type keyboard. Now she doesn’t have to put her nose against the keyboard to type. She’ll be able to see all the keys more easily. You could tell she really loved her gift. I think she will make really good use of it.
Brian received a couple of new shirts and shorts from his parents, which is great because we were planning on buying him a couple more shorts to take on our trip to Jamaica. Now we don’t have to. Here are some pictures of his gifts..
Before we left, mom gave Brian her gift (a bottle of the red Lucky cologne). She had left it in their car. Lunch went pretty well. I think everyone had a good time. The performer even played happy birthday on the harmonica for grandma. She really enjoyed it; so much so that she gave him a hug and a kiss when he finished.
After lunch we drove grandma and grandpa home so we could hook the new keyboard up to the computer and also to put up grandpa’s new flag.
While there, Brian took the time to fix the date and time on the grandparents’ VCR so they could record their favorite shows. Later that afternoon Chad, Dave, Donna, Brian and I met up with Jan, Rob, and Bree to watch Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer. We pretty much and the entire C-row to ourselves.
The movie was refreshingly short, which is amazing in this day of three-hour long movies. It wasn’t bad, though. The effects were actually really good.
That pretty much concluded our celebration, for the day anyway. Next week Saturday we are all going to have dinner at Kobe’s and then maybe going bowling. So the celebrating continues. 🙂

Ching, we should plan on shopping at Sam’s for barbecue at my place. Jude C., meet a friend at his work with a Filipina wife and I plan to invite them also, of course my whole family will be here. Alonso’s Brubaker’s Cannady’s . Take note, the last names are now mentioned in alphabetical order 🙂 I don’t think I need a Sams card, if I only need them once or twice or else I can just go to Walmart.
