Sick and Dreaming

I wasn’t feeling well yesterday but went to work anyway. I probably shouldn’t have because today I’m all achey and not feeling good and my head hurts. Since I don’t like to take medicine (pill phobia), I just have to endure it. Although, I was smart enough to stay home today instead of going to work and being miserable and taking it out on everyone else.
Here it is two o’clock in the afternoon and I’m lstill laying in bed. I should get up and fix myself something to eat but, honestly, I’d rather not move. I must be really sick to shun food. I always eat, no matter how sick I get.
You know how people get sick and they lose weight because they don’t have any appetite? That doesn’t ever happen to me. When I get sick, I actually gain weight because I just stay home and fall into a sleep-eat-sleep-eat-more routine.
Then I was freaking out for a while, thinking there was something wrong with me because I still hadn’t received the results of my health screening from two weeks ago. The note I received said the results would be available on the web site in 48 hours. So I’m thinking there’s something seriously wrong with me.
Yesterday I received an email asking me to participate in another health screening. So I emailed back and told her that I had already been screened and that I am just waiting to receive my results back. The good news is there may not be anything wrong with me. The bad news is that I do have to go through the heath screening again because they somehow lost our blood samples. Thus, the delay in getting my results back.
Everyone who went on May 10 has to go through a do over. Which is really crummy for me because it took a lot to get my blood drawn the first time. I really hate getting my blood drawn and going through a health screening once a year is about all I can handle. Unfortunately, I have to go through it twice this year. They’re coming back to our building to complete the do overs next week so at least I’ve got a few days to muster up the courage to go through it again.
While I’m laying here with nothing to do I figured I would look at the schedule of activities at Couples Ocho Rios. The schedule I have is from 2006 but I read in the message boards that the schedule doesn’t really change. I thought I’d come up with an agenda for Brian and I. And here he thought he was going to have a relaxing vacation of just bumming around and laying in a hammock all week. LOL.
Barring any more changes to our flight schedule, we should arrive in Montego Bay at approximately 1:30 PM on Saturday, July 14. There is a two to three hour bus ride from the airport to the resort. If we do a conservative estimate, then that should place us at the resort by about 4:00 PM. That should give us time to check-in, check out our new home for a week, and freshen up a bit. Since this is our first trip to Couples Ocho Rios, I would like to go through the resort orientation (where they show you where everything is located and tell you about the property and all that jazz) so that we don’t wander around aimlessly for the next seven days. The orientations are done daily at 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM. I’m not sure how long it takes, though. I’m guessing it probably won’t take more than an hour. From reading the message boards, it seems to me like most of the guests are repeaters so everyone pretty much knows where everything is. Plus, I’ve been looking at the map of the property pretty much every chance I get so by the time we go I could probably give the tour/orientation myself. Of course, it won’t be as cool as if it were delivered by a tour guide with a Jamaican accent. =P
Anyway, I would like to attend the pool side gala buffet that evening. But before that, I want to sign up for all of the excursions and activities we plan to do during our stay. I read in the message boards that some of the more popular activities and tours get booked up pretty quickly.
Some of the free excursions and activities we want to do include all the watersports, snorkeling, the Dunns River Falls tour (we did this on our cruise but I don’t mind doing it again since it’s free), horseback riding (will probably do this several times), hanging out au naturel at Tower Isle (will probably do this several times also), glass-bottom boat tour, and the catamaran cruise. We are skipping the scuba diving (the House episode where this Asian airline passenger got the bends just totally freaked me out; besides Brian and I are not certified) and the golf (we’re not golfers; maybe on our next trip), but we plan on doing just about everything else.
Some of the excluded tours and excursions we want to do include the Negril Beach and sunset tour, luminous lagoon tour, para-sailing, and Port Antonio rafting/Frenchman’s Cove tour. There is a Chukka canopy tour but I don’t know where the info is on it. I would really like to do it so hopefully it is available from Ocho Rios. We are skipping Dolphin Cove this time because we did that when we went on our cruise. It cost us almost $500 last time because we did the swimming with dolphins option so that’s $500 that we’ll get to save by skipping the tour.
I’m hoping to get a 2007 schedule of included and optional tours so I can put a more detailed agenda together. Now I’m kind of wishing that we booked for 10 days instead of just 7. I don’t think we’ll have enough time to do everything we want.
