My Mojo is Back

Poker is going great for both Brian and I. Last Friday I won us a poker chip set at the APL headquarters. On Saturday Brian took third at a private game at Chad’s apartment. He won $20 for third place. The buy in was $10 so we basically broke even.
We didn’t plan on playing poker tonight. I actually thought that I wouldn’t be able to play poker all summer because of my Tuesday-Thursday Accounting class that runs from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. However, she let us out slightly before 9:30 pm tonight. I called Brian to pick me up early.
“We still have time to play poker at the Loft,” he said jokingly expecting me to say no. Much to his surprise, I agreed.
I’m so glad we went. Brian took 9th and I hung around for a while and took 2nd, earning $25. It’s awesome! It’s not everyday you go to a bar and come out ahead.
I planned to take him to B&C Creations (a great all-you-can eat bbq resto downtown) tomorrow anyway as a pre-birthday lunch. Now we basically get to eat for free courtesy of the Loft.
Brian had never been there. I’d never been there either until Tuesday when I went to lunch with some coworkers. You can’t tell from the name of the business that it’s a restaurant. From the outside, it actually looks like a store. The only thing that gave it away are the sumptuously delicious aromas that greet you as you walk to the door. What’s neat is that the place doesn’t really advertise so their popularity is strictly due to word-of-mouth. Thinking that I was privy to some top secret bbq place made me feel sort of special. The food is really good, too.
Hopefully, it won’t be too busy there tomorrow because I’m anxious for Brian to try it. Besides, I think the name is great (B&C could stand for Brian and Ching). I told Brian about it after we got back from lunch and he thought I was joking about the name of the place.
Anyway, Brian’s birthday is Monday. He turns 31 this year. Please don’t forget to greet him! 🙂
