Post Zumba Munchies at Caffe Moderne
Posted on October 2, 2012 by Ching under Food and Drink.
Brian’s reward for letting me attend the Zumba event in Old Town Square was dinner at Caffe Moderne, one of our most favorite places to eat downtown.
He usually gets the Habana with tomato bisque soup as his side.
My usual is the Garbo with salad.
We shared gelato for dessert. It wouldn’t have been a real “reward” otherwise.

Zumba in Old Town Square
Posted on October 1, 2012 by Ching under Zumba.
I had a great time doing Zumba in Old Town Square on Saturday night. Thank you so much to Wheels Studio for organizing the FREE event.
I also had my first Linercise experience. I had never participated in Linercise before. It was actually pretty interesting.
I thought I was just doing Zumba at first, but it was quite different. We kept turning different directions and the choreography followed a more specific pattern (no random breaks in the music, as is often common with Zumba).
If you want to try it out, along with other types of fitness and dance exercise classes, go to the Wheels Studio Facebook page.
P.S. Jen Cole and I ended up wearing the same Zumba top without calling each other or planning it. Just a happy coincidence!

Productive Saturday
Posted on September 30, 2012 by Ching under Home Ownership, Projects.
We had a productive day yesterday. Then again, days are likely to go better when you start out with mimosas. Too bad we can’t do this everyday. LOL.
We like to use Korbel Sweet Rosé in our mimosas for three reasons: it’s sweet, it gives the mimosas a pretty pinkish tint, and, best of all, it’s cheap.
For breakfast we had rice, sausage patties, eggs, mimosas, and Saturday morning cartoons — a winning combination. And, by the way, it was the season premiere of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
I went to teach my Zumba class that morning, which only consisted of two other people besides me yesterday because there was so much going on. There were several fund raising events like Race for the Cure and Dancing for Sonya, just to name a couple. Lucky for me, Jenni was one of the two people who came so she drove me home. Since Brian didn’t have to come back and pick me up, he managed to get a head start on the garage clean up.
Although, I can never leave this guy unsupervised. He managed to break the high-pressure washer that dad loaned us. When he told me what happened, I urged him to call dad immediately and tell him what happened. My thought was that surely, this has happened to dad and he knows how to make it work again. But, in the back of my mind, I’m also thinking, “They’re never going to loan us anything ever again.” LOL.
I was like, “Great. Now we’re going to have to buy him a new high-pressure washer for Christmas.” So much for getting off cheaply this holiday season.
Anyway, Brian told me that dad said he had a feeling it might have been broken when he loaned it to us because it was leaking some oil. I was like, “Nice. And he didn’t bother to warn us about it maybe going tits up on us? What a jerk!” Bwa ha ha ha ha! Just kidding, dad! You know I love you.
The garage looks so much better now that almost everything has been sorted and organized. I say “almost” because Brian still has a couple of large plastic storage containers of stuff that he needs to go through. We had one plastic tub full when we moved from the old house to the townhouse and it never got sorted or looked at. We had to move the same plastic tub, in the same condition, from the townhouse to the new house and now we have another full plastic container in the same situation. I told him, I’m going to nag him every few months until we go through the stuff and sort what we need to keep from what we need to toss. I’ll be darned if I’m moving those storage containers again the next time we move. Blech.
On a brighter note, I’m really glad that we finally got around to organizing the garage because now we can park the truck inside too. We should have done this a long time ago because, as you can see, the Flip and Ching mobile suffered extensive hail damage due to our negligence and laziness. Okay, we’re not really negligent or lazy, we are just really busy people. Either way, sorry Crichton!
The garage is looking pretty good, though. I’m happy with how it turned out. Even though, Brian is yet to get some Versatrack to hang the bikes and the tools and free up some more garage floor space for us (for my future Zumba studio – he he).
We did so well yesterday that Brian even had time for a brief nap before we went to Old Town Square for Zumba. Of course, he was rewarded with yummy Caffe Moderne after. He is such a fantastic husband! Oh, and a really good looking one (according to Nick, who didn’t realize that Brian is almost 40 — he really thought Brian’s only in his late twenties). I am one lucky woman!

Food Truck Grand Slam
Posted on September 29, 2012 by Ching under Food and Drink.
I’d be lucky to spot a food truck every once in a while. Yesterday, I spotted three and ate from two. I got to eat an Air Capital cheesesteak sandwich with a side of homemade potato chips for lunch courtesy of work, which brought in B.S. Sandwich Press and Mmm Sandwiches as our reward for doing well over the summer.
I would have taken pictures of my food, but I forgot my cellphone at my desk.
Brian and I were in a food truck food kind of mood, so we caught The Flying Stove in Old Town Square after my Zumba class last night. As food trucks go, The Flying Stove is definitely the best. They have the most creative menu out of everyone.
I had the Hawaiian Loco Moco, while Brian had the Japanese Chicken Karange. We also shared an order of truffle fries, which are not to be missed. It’s almost ilke The Flying Stove signature. They have the best fries in Wichita in my book.
Here’s a picture of our feast…
My food was good, but I think Brian’s had better flavor. It reminded me of another dish that I’d tried before from their menu.
The one thing I will recommend, if you’ve not tried The Flying Stove or this new menu before, is to ask for the egg to be fried hard (if you don’t want it somewhat runny) and the burger patty to be well-done. Mine was still pinkish and Brian and I get pretty oogy about that. I still love, love, love The Flying Stove, though.

Thank You for My Free Book
Posted on September 28, 2012 by Ching under Leadership.
I drove to Topeka yesterday to listen to Bruce Tulgan talk about leadership. That’s leadership with a lower case L, by the way. I normally ride with Darcy, but she didn’t sign up for the training this time around. So I ended up driving myself because Isaac accidentally left me out of the carpool email. It worked out okay though because I need to drive more anyway. I’m always the passenger.
Brian always worries about me when I have to drive long distances because I turn into a narcoleptic in the car. It wasn’t too bad this time. I was actually alert the entire drive home. Maybe it was because of Tulgan’s energizing talk that morning.
Unlike other speakers we’ve had in the past where everyone gets a copy of their book for free, Tulgan actually makes you work for yours. If you are engaged and ask a question, you get rewarded with a free copy of one of his books. Would you have expected anything different from the author of Not Everyone Gets A Trophy? LOL. Isaac actually ended up getting a free copy of that book yesterday, which is quite fitting since he’s a member of the Y Generation. Though, he probably doesn’t need any tips on how to manage himself.
I was fully engaged but had a challenging time coming up with a question to ask (so I could earn my free book, of course). Every time I thought of a question, I also thought of the answer. I know. It’s really hard being me.
Time was running out and he was quickly running out of books to give away so I desperately had to say/ask something. I did get to squeeze in a question (which hopefully wasn’t as bas as Angie’s “Cookies” comment from the latest Survivor episode), but he was out of the hard cover books and only had “Fast Feedback” left, which I already had. Thankfully, Tracey who asked a question earlier and got a copy of It’s Okay to Be the Boss was willing to trade me. She probably figured that I needed all the help I could get. LOL. Actually, she’s just really nice and saw how badly I wanted a copy of the book. I’m hoping to finish reading it this weekend so I can just give it back to her.
Thank you, Bruce Tulgan for giving making me work for my free book. (Thanks to Tracey for trading me.) More importantly, thank you for stimulating my brain enough to keep me awake on the drive back to Wichita.
