Better a Tool than a Dipstick

So Brian and his dad worked on the lawnmower today. I’m not sure what was wrong with it, but whatever it was it is fixed now. Let me just share some of today’s funniest moments.

BRIAN (asking his dad): How much oil should I put in this thing?

DAVE: What does the dipstick say?

CHING (referring to Brian): The dipstick has no clue.

Later on when they were trying to remove a bolt. Dave recommended using a socket driver. Brian used a wrench driver instead. After an unsuccessful attempt at it, he switched to using the socket driver. [ I have no idea what these tools are called so if I’m using the wrong terms, forgive me. ]

DAVE: See how much of a difference using the right tool makes? Look at all that leverage.

CHING: So it’s better to use the right tool and not be a tool.

BRIAN: Wow. I’ve been promoted from a dipstick to a tool.

DAVE: At least a tool is useful. As opposed to being greasy and just hanging around.

CHING: That describes Brian to a tee!

BRIAN: That’s it! You’re stleeping on the couch tonight!

It’s so much fun to pick on Brian. I love you, baby!

Brian and I can now play poker in bed thanks to Eli‘s hand-me-down laptop. Hurrah for us! It pays to have geeky, gamer friends. LOL. Just kidding.

Kidding aside, the laptop is more of a desktop replacement (DTR). If you know anything about DTRs, they’re not the most portable of laptops. They are usually packed with goodies, though. The chunky size was a small sacrifice. We didn’t really plan on taking the laptop anywhere. The family room would probably the farthest distance it would go. Anyway, at $500 it was a hell of a deal!

Of course, my cheap Asian side kicked in and I told Brian to negotiate a lower price. “Ask him for the good friend discount,” I said. Brian told me that $500 is the good friend price because Eli paid over $2000 for it new. However, he did throw in a free Litescribe DVD burner which probably would’ve cost us another $200 if we were to buy it separately. Eli is the best! (more…)

Favorite Poker Video

Posted on September 10, 2006 by under Poker, Web.

I found this video on Daniel Negreanu’s personal assistant Patty’s MySpace and I have to say it is now one of my favorite video clips. I’m not a big Phil fan so I totally enjoyed watching him implode. LOL.

Speaking of poker, I played in APL’s $1000 tourney yesterday afternoon at Doyles Room. You had to have so much APL points in order to qualify. You earn the points by placing in local APL tourneys. Anyway, Brian and I both played in it. There were only 102 players so the odds were pretty good. (more…)

People are Crazy

Posted on September 7, 2006 by under Web.

Just be glad you are not this guy. He got banged up pretty badly. People are crazy. They might look normal, but do not be deceived. People are crazy.

P.S. I had to ditch class tonight because I ended up getting a call from work. I really should’ve just gone home instead of even attempting going to class. Anyway, missing class is a minor inconvenience compared to what others have to go through during the course of their work day as you can see from the video above. I should really quit whining.
