Piaggio USA

Posted on December 31, 2008 by under Toys, Wishlist.

I was looking over a Popular Mechanics today and ran across an article about the Piaggio MP3 500.

Piaggio MP3 500

I love the way these bikes look, they are so sleek and tough looking. I have yet to see any of these on the road, but for 7K Maybe I can be the first in Wichita to get one. I don’t thing my wife will let me have one just yet. I need to finish the work on the house first before I can ask for a gift of this magnitude. Maybe in a couple of years you will see the wife and I on a warm summer night strolling around town on this.

Here’s to dreaming.

Brian’s Welcome Home Gift

I picked this up yesterday at Barnes & Noble for Brian as a “welcome home” gift. This week has actually gone by pretty quickly. It hasn’t been bad, but I am really glad that he’s back. I have missed him so much.

Being busy has helped me get through the week a lot easier. Let’s see, I dropped him off at the airport on Sunday and that was the day I came home and crashed and spent most of the day in bed because of a fever.

I missed work on Monday to go to the doctor. Went to see my parents and then came home and crashed again. I was starting to feel better though.

I was back to work on Tuesday, followed by dinner with Jen that evening. I picked up a really nice business card holder at Lucinda’s. I think this is what guilted me into buying a “welcome home” gift for Brian. Believe it or not, my tiny little business card holder cost more than his Watchmen book.

Wednesday night was spent having dinner with my in-laws. We had pork chops, and mac and cheese, and corn. Yum! I got to take some leftovers for lunch at work the next day. Speaking of which, I think I left the container on my desk. That is going to be really stinky on Monday. Ugh.

Thanksgiving dinner at Cherry Creek was on Thursday night. Grandma and grandpa were nice enough to invite me, so I got to have dinner with them, David, Donna, and their friend John.

Jan was looking forward to us hanging out since Brian was out of town so we scheduled our time on Friday before poker. She took me out to dinner at Jason’s Deli and we ran around Bradley Fair for a while. She had a coupon to claim at Origins and we checked out the closeout sale at Harold’s where I found some things I liked (like a couple of argyle sweaters and some blouses that would be good for work) but their prices, even though discounted, were still too high.

We also went to Franklin Covey and Barnes & Noble where I picked up a couple of things for Jen’s birthday coming up. Then I took her home and headed to poker, which was a bad idea because I’m in a bit of a rut. I didn’t even make it to break. 🙁

Today I went to the gym, locked myself out of the house, had breakfast with my rescue party at Jimmy’s Egg, played Phase 10 with the grandparents for three hours, and then finally went to pick up Brian at the airport. Now he is back home, so the week has gone by relatively quickly.

Anyway, time to give Brian a body rub. The post about Jimmy’s Egg is still coming. Stay tuned!

Cheating on Bebot

File this under great service recoveries of all time…

Can you believe this is my car’s engine compartment? Everything was so clean and shiny. Brian and I were really impressed. Eddy’s totally delivered on their promise to “thoroughly detail” my car. They were not joking. They cleaned Bebot inside and out.

It looked like they took all of our junk out, cleaned the car and then put our stuff back where they were. I know because things were moved around somewhat. The floors and interior had gotten dirty from leaves and dust and stuff and everything was spotless when we picked the car up. The car seriously looked better than the day we bought it. That’s a huge compliment considering the car was bought brand new.

Of course, it rained the other day so I only got to enjoy my clean, shiny car for a couple of days at best. Isn’t that always how it goes? LOL.

I did feel a little guilty, though, because we almost didn’t want to get our own car back. We really enjoyed driving and riding around in the ’08 Prius. It made me feel very eco-friendly. LOL.

I have always thought Priuses looked ugly. I’m not a big fan of the hatchback trunk and the compact body style. After you realize how much gas you’re saving (or how little gas it consumes), it kind of grows on you. Plus, I think it’s shorter than my car but the interior is far roomier. It is surprisingly spacious inside. We fit Brian’s parents in there with us and we all had plenty of leg room.

I like how quiet it is, the cute power button, the backup camera, the design of the interior compartments (efficient use of space), and the gas mileage (naturally). I am totally sold. I’m not not much of a car person, though. In fact, I know nothing about cars so Brian will probably be able to share a more informed, educated review of the vehicle. All I know is that our next car purchase (probably in 2010 when the Priuses are manufactured in the US and improve to 70-80 mpg) will likely be a Prius because we really like it a lot. [ SIDE NOTE: It’s a good thing we are not in the market for one right now because there is a seven-month waiting list at Eddy’s. ]

Here are some pictures of the one we got to drive last weekend:

Don't see Priuses at gas stations often.

Yeah, we put gas in it though we didn’t really need to… That’s because we are nice. We did put quite a lot of miles on it with all the driving all over town that we did. Brian and I guess that we could probably go to Kansas City and back on a half a tank. I kind of wish we still had it for our road trip tomorrow.

African Safari

Posted on February 24, 2008 by under Movies, Sponsored Post, Travel, Wishlist.

Brian and I watched two great movies over the last two days. We watched 3:10 to Yuma this afternoon. Yesterday we watched The Bucket List. Both were excellent movies in their own right.

Anyway, there was a scene in The Bucket List where Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman went on an African safari. It’s the scene where they are in the safari jeep singing that song from The Lion King, “The Lion Sleeps Tonight.” You know the scene. The landscape was just breathtaking. They were in that safari tent and it just made me want to go on a safari real bad.

Almost immediately, I hopped online and checked out flights to South Africa. It’s a shame that Brian doesn’t have any vacation time. Otherwise, that could be our anniversary trip this year. Not that we can afford to go or anything. We all know we have to finish working on the house still. But, whatever. It doesn’t hurt to dream.

Brian and I agreed that we are taking a major trip next year because 2009 marks our ten years of “togetherness,” so we have to do something big. Right? It’s got to be bigger than Jamaica. LOL.

Either way. Whether it be 2009 or later. An African safari is going on my own personal “bucket list.”

Dream Office

Posted on February 17, 2008 by under Wishlist.

This is my dream office. I saw this and sported wood. I can imagine the long hours of World of Warcraft play that could go on here. I mean this guy has everything! at least 3 separate servers, 3 Hard Drive Towers for I assume back ups, an incredible sound system. I looked at his set up and just drooled. My wife says that I am too much of a geek.

If you are a geek then you can bow to this system of the geek gods! If you want to look at all the picks you can look at this guys page here.
