Our First Photo Walk
Posted on May 23, 2009 by Ching under Flickr, Things to Do, Web.
When I first told Brian about going on the Delano photo walk, he wasn’t so thrilled. If he had his choice, he’d sleep until 1 pm. The last couple of Saturdays, I’ve managed to find things to do that require us to get before 8 am so he’s not too happy with me right now. However, I made it clear that his presence at today’s photo walk was entirely optional. He was reluctant, but decided to go citing that he would never let me walk along Delano by myself. I pointed out to him that the photo walk is during the day and I’d be with a bunch of other people so I wouldn’t exactly be by myself. Brian is a bit paranoid, though.
Though it wasn’t quite how he envisioned his Saturday morning, Brian went and actually had fun. I think it’s safe to say that Mr. Reluctant is eager to attend the next one. We both agreed that we needed a real camera, though. After looking at some of the photos taken by others, ours just look blah. We blame it on the camera.
Days like to today make me wish I had a real camera, but then I can’t justify spending the money on a nice one because I’d never be able to find the time to learn how to use it. There’s nothing more sad than a fantastic camera that’s gone to waste. For now I’ll have to live with my point-and-shoot. If the picture isn’t quite right, I can always edit it in Picnik. =P
Here are some of my favorites from this morning’s photos…

My Badge of Honor [Geekiness]
Posted on May 23, 2009 by Ching under Web.
A Geek Chart is a pie chart which shows where you do most of your sharing. Mine is particularly interesting because it gives equal portion to Flickr and Twitter.
I felt sure that Flickr would have a greater slice of the pie. I have almost 20,000 photos on Flickr and have been a member from the very beginning (since early 2004), while I’ve only been on Twitter since 2007 and have less than 5,000 updates. It was interesting to me that Flickr and Twitter came out even on my chart. I wonder what kind of algorithm they’re using… Hmm.. Anyway, you can check out my Geek Chart page here.
P.S. I also wonder if this chart will dynamically update over time. I guess we’ll see.

Conficker: Tomorrow is D-Day
Posted on March 31, 2009 by Ching under News, Web.
So tomorrow is the day. Coincidentally, tomorrow is also April Fool’s Day. So what do you guys think? Should we be freakin’ out or is this some kind of joke? One thing is for sure, we need to take computer security very seriously.

Saturday, March 14, is Pi Day
Posted on March 8, 2009 by Ching under Web.
Pi Day has a special significance for me this year because it is the day that Brian arrives back in Wichita. I miss him so much and am counting the hours.
Anyway, these Pi symbol ice cubes are a great way to celebrate Pi Day. The ice trays are available through Think Geek. Other products to help you celebrate Pi Day include a math mug and a Pi symbol shirt.
I don’t know about you guys, but I will be celebrating on Pi Day for sure!

Blurb “Love Bound” Book Contest
Posted on January 19, 2009 by Ching under Life, Web.
There’s still time to submit an entry to the Blurb book contest!
I had this creative proposal idea, which would make a for a great contest entry. You know how people propose through billboards or on live television or by putting the ring in the champagne glass… I was thinking it would be neat to propose to someone by creating a photobook of your life together as a couple and including pictures of all of your happiest moments and then having the words “Will you marry me?” printed on the very last page. If I were to propose to someone, that is how I would do it. It’s a shame I’m already married. =P LOL.
Anyway, if you have creative book ideas head on over to the Blurb web site. Download the BookSmart software. Create a book. Submit it. You could have $75 headed your way, if your book is selected. That’s enough to get a very nice hard cover copy (or two) of your very own creation.
