The 2008 Halloween Poker Cruise photo book is finally complete! Hurrah! It is available here for purchase.

I just ordered mine today and I’m hoping that it will arrive in time for Christmas so I can show it to the rest of the fam. It is a little pricey because I selected the largest size possible and also opted for premium paper and the book consists of a hefty 64 pages.

I’m trying to figure out how to change it back to standard paper as type this. I think if I switch it to standard paper, it will be $10 cheaper. Anyway, let me know if you order one so I can say thank you. 🙂

Finished Twilight

Posted on December 6, 2008 by under Projects, Reviews.

Finally, finished the Twilight saga (thanks to Jenni for the digital versions). I read all four books in the span of two weeks. Can you believe it? I had just finished New Moon when we went to see the movie. I immediately attacked Eclipse the next day, and was finishing Breaking Dawn before I new it. The books flow together really well. Once you get started, there’s just no stopping until you are finished.

Here are the books in my order of preference:

  • Breaking Dawn — definitely the best and longest book in the series; I would tell you more about why this is my favorite but I’m afraid I might spoil the your reading experience
  • Eclipse — lots of action in this one; I think it will make a great movie
  • Twilight — don’t let the movie mislead you; the book is a hundred times better
  • New Moon — this is my least favorite because the beginning really upset me, so much so that I had to take a break from reading for almost two days; anyway, I won’t say anymore so I don’t ruin it

Anyway, I found out that Amazon is taking pre-orders for The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide already. I want to learn more about the characters so I think I might get it. I don’t know. For now, I think I’ll read Midnight Sun.

P.S. I’m procrastinating from finishing my poker cruise book. 🙁 Maybe I can start working on it again after Midnight Sun. That is, unless I find something else to keep me occupied.

#1/100 Donald K. Enoch

Grandma and grandpa Brubaker invited me to come to the annual Thanksgiving supper at Cherry Creek Health Care Center tonight. That is how I met Mr. Enoch. He was playing the piano while everyone ate. I found out that this is the second time that he has played piano for the residents of Cherry Creek.

Mr. Enoch, 92, played piano beautifully. Donna, my mother-in-law, chatted with his wife while he played. Mrs. Enoch told us that Mr. Enoch was mayor of Wichita in the late 60s.

I did some research and found this to be true. According to the City of Wichita’s web site, Mr. Enoch served as mayor from 1969 to 1970. He also served as city commissioner during the following periods: 1967-1968, 1968-1969, and 1970-1971.

[ NOTE: This is my first submission to the 100 Strangers project. ]
