Congratulations, Holly and Meader!
Posted on July 22, 2016 by Ching under Events.
Brian and I had the privilege of attending our friends Holly and Meader’s wedding last weekend. It was funny because, when I received the wedding invitation a couple of months ago, the invitation included a map and instructions for the wedding venue which just happens to be one floor above my office. LOL.
I was like, “I know exactly where this is!”
Holly and Meader’s wedding was held at the Petroleum Club on the 9th floor of the Ruffin Building. I love how they had their wedding and reception at the same location. That was great thinking on their part because it makes it really convenient for the guests. It saves you from having to drive from one venue to another.
We meant to arrive much earlier but I spotted a Snorlax as we were leaving our neighborhood and asked Brian to pull over. Yes, we started playing Pokémon GO a couple of weeks ago and are completely hooked. Thankfully, we left the house early enough that we still arrived a few minutes early.
I can just see the disapproving looks had we been late. “So, tell me again why you missed the wedding? You were trying to capture a Snorlax?!” LMAO.
Paula and Abby were already there when we arrived. Paula (pictured on the right in the above photo) was kind enough to save me and Brian a couple of seats at her table, which she dubbed the “Zumba” table. This is another thing that I felt Holly and Meader got right. I think open seating is definitely the way to go. There are few things more stressful than having to decide where to place people. And then it’s extra work to make sure all of those placeholders are in the right spots. Definitely not my favorite wedding task. I say let the guests figure it out.
Here’s a picture of me and Kate.
Jake, Christina, Andrea, and Gina also sat at the same table.
Here’s a picture of me with Hideki, who was part of the wedding party so he sat at the special table for all the members of the wedding party.
This is Missy. She was party of the wedding party as well.
Here’s Missy and Brian.
Missy with the Bloessers, Rob and Heather. We got to spend time with these guys on the Zumba cruise earlier this year.
Beautiful party people.
I took a photo of our feet because I thought it was a neat coincidence that Paula and I wore the same color shoes. The red toenails belong to me and the blue toenails belong to Paula. Great minds think alike!
Here’s a picture of Brian and Todd with a photobomb by the groom.
It wasn’t too long ago that our group was Christina and Jake’s wedding. Now we were all gathered together again to share in Holly and Meader’s special day.
Holly looked so beautiful and was positively radiant.
Here’s a picture of their colorful wedding cake.
…And Meader’s Tardis groom’s cake.
Here are a couple of pictures of the happy couple.
We couldn’t resist Pokémon hunting after the wedding ceremony as we were waiting for the reception to official begin. The place was swarming with Pokémons because Gina and Brian both placed Pokémon lures at a nearby Pokémon stop.
Here’s a picture of me with Meader and Holly.
Having a great time with my Zumba pals, Paula and Missy.
Here are a couple of pictures of Holly and Meader that I took during their first dance. Don’t they look so adorable together?
More dancing!
A FLIP + CHING selfie…
That’s pretty much all I have. Congratulations to Meader and Holly. Best wishes for a happy honeymoon and marriage.
XOXO,
Flip and Ching

Birthdays Galore
Posted on July 13, 2016 by Ching under Events, Family.
We had multiple birthdays this past weekend.
Madison’s birthday cookout was our first stop on Friday night.
On Saturday night we had Logan’s birthday first, followed by Misty’s birthday. Don’t let the picture on the cake fool you. Logan turned 13 today. They used an old picture of him for the cake.
Can you believe the woman above birthed Logan 16 years ago?
My favorite part of parties at mom’s house is the abundance of Filipino food. This is Filipino-style pork barbecue.
Next we have chicken and pork adobo.
Lumpia.
Pancit.
Pancit palabok.
Macaroni salad.
Leche flan.
Buko salad.
Biko.
My makulit sister.
Me and Brian.
We didn’t stay long at Logan’s birthday because we also committed to attending Misty’s 40th birthday at Ernie Biggs. Here’s a picture of Lindsay and Misty.
Cari was there too.
Ernie Biggs has been around for a few years now but it was actually our first time there. It’s a great place for celebrating special occasions. We had a great time celebrating Misty’s birthday.
Now that we’ve made it through the multiple birthday weekend, we’re gearing up for another busy weekend. Holly and Meader get married on Saturday. Hurrah! We are super excited for them.

My Commemorative Plaque
Posted on July 11, 2016 by Ching under Life.
My 40 Under 40 commemorative plaque arrived at work last week. Brian was nice enough to come to my work that same day to hang it up for me.
Of course, he had to go home, change out of his suit, and take care of the dogs first. Then he came back to help me. Do I have the best husband or what?
We tried a couple of different spots before deciding it should go under my diplomas because there’s not really any place else suitable.
Here’s Brian showing me a picture that he took of his handiwork.
Here it is on the wall, unobstructed by plastic.
It’s the perfect companion for the little plaques that they gave us at the awards dinner a few weeks ago.

Brian and Saki

This is what normally happens when Brian spends hours playing video games and ignores the girls. Molly doesn’t really care so she just finds a nice comfy spot and lays there. The puppy, on the other hand, is an attention whore.

Saki just has to be with her daddy at all times.

Party at the White House
Posted on July 10, 2016 by Ching under Events, Food and Drink.
Tom White’s house, that is.
Tom had his house warming party last weekend. House is a massive understatement, though. It’s more like a mansion as you’ll see from the pictures that follow.
Tom bought the Lakepoint house months ago and I’d been watching the renovation unfold on Facebook. He gutted the kitchen and pretty much updated everything but the basement. Every time he would post a picture of a completed section such as his kitchen counters or his light fixtures I would tell Brian, “I hope we get invited to his housewarming party because I really want to see this amazing house in person.”
You all know how much I love the Parade of Homes. Well, this would be like that but better because there will be food and booze. Come to think of it, that’s really what’s missing at most open houses. LOL.
Took a picture of the dining table as they were setting it up for the feast.
This is one of Brian’s ultimate selfies. Almost everyone congregated around Tom’s amazing kitchen.
Brian and I made a new friend. This is Elissa, a friend of Tom’s from university.
This is Jessie. He is a master at delivering the ultimate customer experience. He’s going to be my “Taxi Terry” example when I finally hit the speaking circuit.
Yes. We are dorks who wear matching shirts. Mostly my doing. Brian just humors me.
Tom’s perfectly cooked ribs.
Dinner at Tom’s #didnotsuck.
We had a great time at Tom’s open house/house warming party despite the storm. Brian and I almost decided not to go but I’m glad we went. We got to check out Tom’s new house and try his cooking. Both were phenomenal.
