2008 Festival of Speed

We had a great time at the Festival of Speed, watching the SCCA National Championship Runoffs, today. It was the first time I had ever been to Heartland Park in Topeka. It was Brian’s first time there, too. We had been to nearby Forbes Field a few years ago, but never in Heartland Park.

While we had a blast watching the cars race, our adventure today was somewhat bittersweet. Our first time watching the SCCA National Championship Runoffs might very well be our last.

I found out that this year is the final year that the event will be held at Heartland Park. The SCCA’s Board of Directors have chosen Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin as host for the event in 2009-2011. I doubt we will ever go to Wisconsin just to watch the races, but Brian could see himself occasionally driving up to Topeka. It’s sad that the SCCA National Championship Runoffs won’t be back next year.

Lake Afton Post-Wedding Thing

We had fun at Cory and April’s post-wedding get together at Lake Afton last night. Brian helped inflate several air mattresses. He also helped put together four different tents. He feels totally accomplished now that he has extensive tent-assembly experience.

It was a beautiful day/evening at the lake. It made me want to go camping. I want to return to Kanopolis, though. Maybe Brian and I can go at least once this year.

P.S. All the spiders gave me the heebie jeebies, though.

• Who We Are

  

  Brian and Ching met in 1999 and have been together ever since. Brian was born and raised in Wichita. He moved away to live in Memphis for a few years and then returned. It was after he returned to Wichita that he met Ching. Coming home was probably the best decision he's ever made, besides marrying Ching.

  Ching moved to the Wichita area in the mid-90s. She is an avid blogger, picture-taker, and pickleball player. She also loves chess and card games. She is quite prolific and has authored most of the posts on the site.

  Brian and Ching are inseparable and enjoy many activities together including traveling, dancing, bowling, chess, and poker. The only activities they don't share are video games (mostly Brian's thing) and Zumba (that's all Ching). They live in Wichita with their two adorable dogs, Molly (RIP) and Saki.

  This blog started in 2002 to document their life after marriage and has since evolved into a chronicle of their day to day adventures.
