My Pot-Bellied Princess
Posted on April 29, 2006 by Ching under Babies.
Brian took Molly to the vet yesterday to be weighed. She is now a whopping two pounds and three ounces. That’s over a half pound more than when we first got her two weeks ago. She only weighted a pound and ten ounces then.
Anyway, she’s really playful now and she’s got lots of energy. She just needs to simmer down sometimes, though.

We Have More Minutes
Posted on April 26, 2006 by Ching under Babies, Life.
As the saying goes, “If there’s a will, there’s a way.” Last week Brian and I were stressing about cellphone overage charges and how we were going to make it through to the end of our bill cycle without having a $200 phone bill. We were conserving our cellphone usage so bad you’d think we were rationing water while travelling through the Sahara.
It got so bad that we started acting like those people in those silly cellphone commercials. Brian would call me and I’d be like, “Why are you calling me? You’re not calling me from your work phone are you?” We have free mobile-to-mobile but if he calls me from his work phone or I call his work phone then it counts against us.
See, I thought those commercials were silly before because we’d never been in any danger of overage charges. Now that we have, I completely understand how the people the commercials feel. We literally could not use our phone because every single non-weekend, non-mobile-to-mobile minute was costing us. To top it off I had duty at work on Monday. I didn’t have any calls, though. Thank the Lord! There’s Something About Molly
Posted on April 16, 2006 by Ching under Babies.
Yesterday was the best day ever! Molly was active and playful. She was running around the house chasing the cats around. She also showed signs of a hearty appetite. We still had to syringe-feed her a few times but for the most part she is beginning to learn to eat on her own.
We also received some good news from the vet yesterday. Molly is negative for canine adison’s disease. I went ahead and purchased pet insurance for her (much to Brian’s disapproval because I didn’t consult him first – what can I say, I panicked) just in case she gets sick or injured later on. I want to make sure that her vet bills are covered. It was about $300 a year, but Iams paid for $50 of it so we only had to pay a little over $250. I think it’s a pretty good deal considering that we’ll probably be visiting the vet several times during Molly’s first year. Of course, the $300 that we have already spent on Molly’s checkup and medical tests over the last three days aren’t covered because the insurance won’t be in effect for another two weeks, if our application is approved. However, it’s better to be safe than sorry. She may not be sick now, but it’s always good to have a backup plan. Besides it’s a pretty good deal because I enrolled Molly in the “Superior Plan plus Routine Care Coverage,” which means that vaccinations, heartworm protection, annual exams, flea control, spaying and other routine procedures are covered.
Anyway, as I mentioned earlier Molly is beginning to get a taste for food. Brian and I are really pleased to see her show an interest in eating. Brian isn’t happy that we still have to do a lot of coaxing and still have to syringe-feed her sometimes, but we both agreed that her health is moving in the right direction. It’s wonderful to see her playfully attack our cats, instead of continuing to be lethargic and weak. (more…)

My Poor Baby
Posted on April 14, 2006 by Ching under Babies.
I don’t know who to feel more sorry for, Molly or Brian. Molly hasn’t had an appetite at all since Brian brought her home. She had some vomitting on Wednesday but Brian and I attributed that to carsickness and thought nothing further of it. When I tried to feed her yesterday morning she still wouldn’t eat. I thought I would just try again at lunch. Surely she’d be hungry then.
Around nine o’clock I received a call from Roxanne to check if Molly was eating for us. I described to her our struggle with feeding her. She told me to force Molly to eat right then because Molly might get sick if she doesn’t eat.
So I put a teaspoon of baby food in a saucer as Roxanne instructed. Baby food is all she could get Molly to eat so she sent a small jar of baby food home with Brian the other day. Anyway, Molly ate a third of it. Maybe even less than that. (more…)
