Jeffrey Energy Center Tour
Posted on April 24, 2009 by Ching under Leadership, Things to Do.
We had the opportunity to tour Jeffrey Energy Center in Saint Marys, Kansas yesterday. Here are some photo highlights:
Not only did we get to tour the power plant (we got to see Unit 3 up close and personal), but we also had the chance to tour the grounds (we got to watch as train cars filled with coal were emptied) and also play with the simulator.
Below you’ll see the monstrosity known as “The Tiger.” It is the biggest truck of its kind I have ever seen. Check out the tires on that thing!
Back in the simulation room, Lila, Roger and Jimmy got to push some buttons.
It was a long day, but definitely informative and, surprisingly, a lot of fun!

Closer to the Heart
Posted on January 29, 2009 by Ching under Leadership.
Got home from the second LW session in Topeka today. Except for being under the weather, I was totally tickled. We talked about the NFL (Non-Negotiable For Leaders) characteristics during the first half of today’s session. Guess what the theme for NFL is… You will never believe it. It’s Closer to the Heart! LOL.
And the men who hold high places
Must be the ones to start
To mold a new reality
Closer to the heart
The first stanza of the song (above) was quoted by our COO in the beginning of the presentation.
I don’t know why, but I just love Rush. Brian hates them, so he always makes fun of me when I turn up the volume on the radio whenever I hear a Rush song playing. You have no idea how amused I am that they picked a Rush song for the NFL theme. What is even more serendipitous is that the Closer to the Heart single was released in 1977, the year I was born. Maybe it’s a sign?

My Leadership Statement
Posted on January 15, 2009 by Ching under Leadership.
“I am a leader whose lifestyle exceeds my paycheck.”
Alright, I stole that one from Travis. Here’s my real one:
“I am a leader who empowers those around me to make choices and to learn and grow from these. I am leader who is compassionate, fair, supportive, trustworthy, and accountable. I am a leader who inspires others to be their best.”
And now that I have shared it here, I will have to live up to this.
