Bebot’s First Bath

Posted on July 17, 2006 by under Babies, Life, Toys.

First Wash

We gave Bebot his first bath this weekend. Who is Bebot, you might ask.

Bebot is our newest family member. Sunny’s younger brother.

We couldn’t think of a good name for him so we decided to name him after Brian’s favorite Black Eyed Peas song. He actually tried to get me to translate it for him the other day. The lyrics aren’t the most brilliant. But whatever. He likes the song, nonetheless.

Vacuuming

So anyway, Bebot got a good cleaning. Inside and out. A lot more than I can say for our house.

House cleaning is the main item on the agenda for this weekend. We still have mom and dad’s steam cleaner so I’m going to try to talk Brian into steam-cleaning the carpet. Shush, he doesn’t know yet. I hope he doesn’t collect on his full day of WOW because cleaning house will be a full day event. Exciting, huh?

The only other thing pressing this weekend is Molly’s first makeover. She got her stitches taken out last Friday so we can finally give her a bath.

Instead of giving her a bath, though, I figured I’d just let the groomers do it. It will be her very first time. Now, that’s exciting! 🙂

P.S. Molly weighed 6 lbs and 4 ounces as of July 14th. She’s getting to be such a big girl!

New Cars and Negotiations

Posted on July 1, 2006 by under Life, Toys.

It seems that everyone is getting in on the new car action. Two of my coworkers bought new cars in the last month. Possibly a third will be buying a new car shortly also. Then, Annette and Mike upgraded the Tahoe to a brand spankin’ new Acura MDX. It seriously only had 8 miles in it when they drove it off the lot!

It is so fancy! It has a sunroof, a navigation system with a rear camera and it is voice activated. It has got everything you could possibly imagine! They bought it last weekend. The same weekend Brian and I bought our yet-to-be-named new car.

Of course, Annette is a really good wheeler and dealer. She learned from her mom Tommy, the expert. However, it is general consensus that Annette may have surpassed the master. She is amazing at getting the dealer to agree to the price she has set.

They were actually picking on us for paying the sticker price. I guess it is a commonly known fact that sticker price is just a suggestion. It is a starting point for negotiations. MSRP stands for manufacturer’s suggested retail price after all.

Brian and I, who are totally inexperienced at this, didn’t even know what hit us. The negotiations were over before they even began. Mom being there didn’t really help much. She was helping the car salesman more than me during the negotiations. Mom and dad both pay sticker because they’re are no hassle folks. They’re every car dealers’ dream. She did write the check to secure the car, though. We owe her big for that. (more…)

Remember When

Posted on June 27, 2006 by under Life, Toys.

Two years ago I blogged about the “Seven Stages of Mourning the Demise of Your Beloved but Shitty Vehicle.” Well, guess what. I finally got a new car!

Sunny is still with us. Brian will be driving her for now. Until she dies. Then he will get his Yaris. Or whatever car catches his eye when the time comes. But for now he will be driving Sunny.

We figured it would be best to trade the Rodeo in instead of mine so that we will continue to have only one car payment. I really don’t like having a car payment but after driving the same car for ten years I figured that I was entitled to a new car.

Anyway, remember how you all helped me name Sunny way back when? Well, it’s time to name the new the car. I am open to suggestions. Leave them in the comments. =)

I’m getting simple in my old age.

Posted on May 10, 2006 by under Toys.

My birthday is in like a month. I have never had this much difficulty deciding what kind of birthday present I want. Normally by now I know exactly what I want and I think I will be satisfied with that decision. However, this year I can not make that decision. I have bounced from a light table for my art work to a new tattoo all the way to a laptop and now down to a new cell phone. While we are on the subject of new cell phones, I used to like cell phones with all the gadgets and gizmos. Today I find myself looking at the simple phones, something to just fulfill my needs. Color display, text messaging and that’s about it. I think I have finally decided that what I truly want is the simple things in life, my wife, my animals and a roof over my head. Anything else is just a bonus! My current decision for my birthday and the one that I have decided that I want the most is a new Nokia 6101 and maybe some gold for my World of Warcraft character (the online game that I am seriously addicted to). Ching told me last night that even she is not this difficult to shop for. I think it’s just my old age.

Our Pets are so Spoiled

Posted on February 4, 2006 by under Babies, Toys.

Last night we stopped by PETCO on the way to poker and ended up spending $50 in cat and sugarglider toys. I haven’t even spent that much on myself in a couple of years! Not in toys, anyway. Our babies are so spoiled. Our best buy that night is this crinkly cat tunnel. It’s similar to the one shown in the photo on the left but it’s in leopard print and has a peak-a-boo hole in the middle. It was on sale for $19.99 but we got it for $15.99 with our store discount card. The cats love it because it sounds like a plastic grocery bag when they play inside it. We’ll take some pictures soon so you guys can check them out.
