Tonight’s Festivities

Posted on August 1, 2011 by under Travel.

I love my job. We are having a little get together later tonight. Pizza and beer. How can you go wrong?

Since this is a work function, I will keep it professional and only have one beer. Then again, it could also be because I am still a wuss when it comes to beer and, any more than that, I will be flat on my butt.

My New TSA-Approved Backpack

Posted on July 24, 2011 by under Travel, Wishlist.

Swiss Gear Computer Bag. Open for Scanning

So we went to Sam’s the other day to get a few small items. As we were walking through one of the aisles, I came across one of the new TSA-approved SwissGear computer bags. These things are really great for travelers like myself who hate going through airport security.

Before, I had to take my laptop out of the bag, place it in a separate container, deal with all of my other stuff as well, and pick everything up and put it all together at the end which can be quite cumbersome. Now, I can just unzip it, lay it flat, run it through and pick it up at the end. I love it!

If you order it online, it only comes in black. However, Sam’s Club carries it in black, blue and gray. I got a gray one because the blue one was ugly and black is too common.

It’s that time again.

It’s that time again!

My birthday is coming up, that means that I am starting to get questions about gifts.
My wife has asked that I put a list up for anyone who is interested. So here it is.

Belted Longer Length Cargo Shorts from Express. I like these because they are longer than your normal shorts. I am kind of picky about the length of shorts because I am self-conscious about my legs. It’s something I am working on but it will be a while before I am happy with the way they look. Thanks to my recent workout routine I have lost some weight and can now fit into a 32 waist.

Also at Express you can find these great Stretch Cotton Crew Neck Tee’s, I love these shirts. I have three already but would love to get some more. They come in a variety of colors but again, I am picky. I am not a flashy person and bright colors don’t really do it for me. The only colors I like are Heather Grey, Light Heather Grey, Pewter, Pitch Black, Pure White and Utility Green. Due to my weight loss, I can now fit in Mediums.

The new Mortal Kombat for the PlayStation 3, you can find it at Best Buy. I loved playing this back in the day. My wife and I used to invite our friends over and have fight night when I had the PS2. Between the Mortal Kombat series and the Tekken Series we had plenty to keep us occupied. We would compete to see who could outlast who.

Starcraft was one of my favorite games. I would play it for hours, just loosing myself in it. Now they have Starcraft 2. This would be one that I would love to have. Practicality has kept me from buying it. Every time I go to buy a game I think about this one but settle for another. From what I have seen of it, this would be a great game to have.

I have several other things in mind, but these are the things that I just wont usually buy myself. If you’re like me and you don’t feel comfortable buying clothes for someone, gift cards to these locations usually work well. I know I am a 32 waist in Old Navy, but the same may not be true for Express. I have learned that each company does its own sizing. If anything include a gift receipt, that’s what I always do no matter what.

High Tech Dental

Posted on April 6, 2011 by under Life.

So, have I told you how cool our new dentist is. They have one of the most high tech facilities that I have ever seen.
Last Saturday I had to get a new crown put on one of my teeth. In the past it was a long process where I hade to get an impression, have a temp put on, wait two weeks while it was sent out and made then come back and have the new one put on. Not this time.

Here is a video of my tooth being made.

Here is what it looked like after, before they stuffed it in my head.

And the days of those tacky dental impressions are in the past. They have digital imagery that does most of the work for you. This machine was the coolest. They had to spray a powder on your teeth that is the same stuff they print on M&M’s. Then they take a little camera and take a few pictures. Once they have all of the images, the computer finds the best match out of over 4000 possibilities. Then it provides a number and that tells you what porcelain blank to put into the machine. Then, 12 minutes later, you have a tooth.

All-in-all, I would say that my experience was awesome. I have to go back next month for a few filling replacements. Hopefully it will be just as rewarding.

Best Deal Ever!

Posted on March 28, 2011 by under Life.

I decided to take advantage of Best Buys new Trade In program by taking some of my PS3 games that I have finished and seeing what I could get. I did the research before hand so I knew approximately what I would be getting. When I got there they took my games and started typing everything in. I had to correct the girl a few times because she was giving me the price for titles that were the first run and n0t the sequel. For example, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare instead of Modern Warfare 2. So after I corrected her and got everything set and she told me that I had a total of $117.00, $7.00 more than I calculated. After I got the card and received the receipt showing me the totals for everything, I realised that she entered the wrong title and it worked to my advantage. I turned in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and she gave me the price for Gran Turismo 5. It should have been $6.00 but instead I got $25.00, score me!

So I took my money and got Dead Rising 2 and Homefront, 2 games that I had been looking at. The total was $118.01, I had to pay $1.01 out of my own pocket for 2 brand new games. The best part, All of the games that I turned in were all used from Game Stop, I didn’t pay full price for any of them.

Best Buy has the best Trade In program ever!
