So I met this girl through MySpace<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0several weeks ago.\u00c2\u00a0 She said they were moving to Wichita in March and are looking for cool people to hang out with.\u00c2\u00a0 Me, being the friendly person that I am, instantly added her to my friends list and said “That’s awesome!\u00c2\u00a0 Holler at us when you get here.\u00c2\u00a0 We would love to get together.”<\/p>\n

A few weeks after our initial MySpace<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0contact, she sends me a follow up letting me know that their move is fast approaching.\u00c2\u00a0 Then another to let me know that they have finally arrived in Wichita.<\/p>\n

This is the message that she and her hubby are\u00c2\u00a0“settled in Wichita now, and if you’d like to get together sometime (even for shopping or girl time) please let me know.\u00c2\u00a0 I hope things with you are well! Take care and I hope to hear from you soon.”<\/p>\n

You all know that I have given up shopping.\u00c2\u00a0 I have been on remission for two years and counting.\u00c2\u00a0 Girl time is out of the question because I don’t really do anything without Brian.\u00c2\u00a0 So I said, “Which part of Wichita are you guys at? How do you like it so far? What do you guys like to do? Do you guys like sushi? We could meet for sushi and drinks or maybe just drinks. LOL.”\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n

Little did\u00c2\u00a0I know that Brian would start freaking out.\u00c2\u00a0 He had one objection after another, his primary worry being that we don’t know anything about these people.\u00c2\u00a0 Personally I think Brian has seen way too many weird movies and is being way too paranoid.<\/p>\n

“They seem like very nice, normal\u00c2\u00a0people baby,” I countered.\u00c2\u00a0 He wasn’t convinced.\u00c2\u00a0 He argued that it’s the ones who seem normal that you have to worry about.<\/p>\n

Anyway, she liked the sushi idea but my problem was\u00c2\u00a0my stubborn husband\u00c2\u00a0who\u00c2\u00a0is adamant\u00c2\u00a0that we not meet them.\u00c2\u00a0 Brian is pretty antisocial and loathes meeting people, new or old alike.<\/p>\n

Brian didn’t want to do anything so I had to stall.\u00c2\u00a0 I\u00c2\u00a0sent a message\u00c2\u00a0last\u00c2\u00a0Sunday suggesting that we meet for sushi the following weekend to buy me another week to work on Brian.<\/p>\n

She said sushi was great and suggested maybe watching a movie after dinner.\u00c2\u00a0 My plan was to get Brian to agree to go out so I decided to ask him if he wanted to have dinner at Sumo on the hibachi side this weekend.\u00c2\u00a0 We normally just go to the sushi side so he was really excited.<\/p>\n

“Who are you?\u00c2\u00a0 And what have you done with my wife?”\u00c2\u00a0 he jokingly asked.<\/p>\n

“There’s a catch,” I explained.\u00c2\u00a0 “We are meeting the couple on MySpace<\/a>.”<\/p>\n

“No, no, no, no,” he says but I persevered.\u00c2\u00a0 I begged and pleaded until he agreed.\u00c2\u00a0 I finally got him on board.\u00c2\u00a0 We actually ended up scratching Sumo in favor of PF Chang’s because, unlike the rest of us,\u00c2\u00a0the male half of the other couple\u00c2\u00a0isn’t a big fan of sushi.\u00c2\u00a0 By then it was too late for Brian to back out because he had already agreed to go.<\/p>\n

We met at the resto around 8:30 and were able to make the 10:10 showing of “Lucky Number Slevin<\/a>.” The movie was great.\u00c2\u00a0 It\u00c2\u00a0made me laugh\u00c2\u00a0during certain parts and it actually made me\u00c2\u00a0cry at the very end.\u00c2\u00a0 Of course, this is not a feat in itself because anything and everything has the ability to move me to tears.\u00c2\u00a0 The movie kept me entertained and I highly recommend it.<\/p>\n

As for the couple, it turns out Brian’s fears were totally unfounded.\u00c2\u00a0 They are normal as normal can be.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0Okay, they’re\u00c2\u00a0little on the nerdy side.\u00c2\u00a0 She’s a gamer-geek\u00c2\u00a0fashionista\u00c2\u00a0and he’s\u00c2\u00a0a programming geek, which he really can’t help because as a software engineer that is what he does for a living.\u00c2\u00a0 He seems to be very passionate about it.<\/p>\n

Anyway, we are a nerdy, geeky couple ourselves so it turns out we have quite a bit in common.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0They’re just like us\u00c2\u00a0(he’s 30 and she’s 29) only taller and sexier.\u00c2\u00a0 I say this because he\u00c2\u00a0has a lean\u00c2\u00a06’4″ frame\u00c2\u00a0and she is 5’11” with a slender, model-like figure.\u00c2\u00a0 There couldn’t be a more perfect couple. Besides us, of course.<\/p>\n

At any rate, the guy who was most apprehensive about the meeting actually did the most talking.\u00c2\u00a0 Brian just yammered away all night, being totally chatty Cathy.\u00c2\u00a0 I think his fears have been completely squelched.\u00c2\u00a0 I hope this means that I won’t encounter\u00c2\u00a0any resistance when I plan our next outing next weekend.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
