I know I said we’d probably get a dog after all the cats have passed but the cats are still young. They’ve got another 10-15 years ahead of them and Brian and I really can’t wait to get a puppy. Every time we see one, we just get all googly.

Yesterday we went to Gupton’s after a rather expensive lunch at Thai Tradition. I love that place but it sucks that they offer lunch prices on weekdays. Lunch cost about $60, more than what we spend for fancy champagne brunches at Legend’s. Actually, it’s more than what we typically spend eating out. Usually we’ll spend that much eating dinner at Outback or Sumo, not lunch. It has been a while since Brian has taken me to eat there, we just took it in stride. Besides, he got head while playing World of Warcraft the night before and really good head and sex that morning so he owed it to me. LOL!

But I digress.. Where were we? Oh, we were at Gupton’s buying mealies for our sugargliders. While we were looking around the store, we saw this super cute long haired chihuahua there for $950. Brian was so in love with it. It was so cute I almost fell in love with it, too. We were so enamored that we actually seriously discussed it. The price was the main downfall. I mean, it’s like what do you want more? A laptop or a chihuahua? Brian wanted to get a laptop for himself later this year. That is the reason for the comparison. So if we get the puppy, we won’t be able to afford a new laptop for him (not like we can afford it now; we still have to save for it). Then again, you can’t really hug a laptop and you can’t get slobbery kisses from it.

Anyway, we were so geared up for a new dog that I actually managed to drag Brian to the Kansas Humane Society. We didn’t think we would find the puppy we wanted there but it was worth a shot. I felt so sad looking at all the abandoned and lost animals looking for homes. I almost wanted to take them all home with us. We are so sad, that we almost went home with another cat. Good thing Brian put his foot down and was firm with me. Otherwise we’d have a white cat to go with our gray (Oscar), black (Felix) and multicolored tabby (Jesus).

Today he’s got me looking for puppies on the classifieds. He’s actually more interested in a long haired chihuahua but I think I can talk him into a Maltese Poodle mix which is what I would actually prefer. The one you see pictured above is 1/4 Poodle + 3/4 Maltese — the perfect mix. I say perfect because Brian is not a big fan of the disposition of Poodles.

So anyway, we have nixed the laptop idea and are now full on looking for a new addition to our family. By the end of the year (if not sooner) we should have our new baby.

We may be adding a dog to our little menagerie.
