Our busy weekend started with the LW banquet at the Great Overland Station in Topeka. We spent the night at Capitol Plaza so we wouldn’t have to drive home late that evening. As luck would have it, the hotel was running a special — stay on a Friday or Saturday night and get the next night for free — so we ended up staying on Saturday night also.<\/p>\n

(I’m glad we spent the night because the after<\/i> party lasted until well past midnight.)<\/p>\n

We weren’t so lucky, however, in that by the time we got to Harrah’s the next morning the Saturday 10 AM tournament was already sold out. Brian was not very happy. Actually, I wasn’t very happy either.<\/p>\n

We decided to cheer ourselves up by going shopping at our favorite mall, Legends at Village West, where we ran into Andrew and Michelle. We had tons of fun at Legends. Brian and I both got to ride the mechanical bull at Wild Bill’s Steakhouse and Saloon. I almost lost my lunch. LOL.<\/p>\n

On Saturday night, I took Brian to Kiku for dinner. He’d never been there before. Mo had taken me there a couple of years ago when I was in Topeka on business. It’s a lot like Sumo only with cheaper prices. The fried rice actually comes with the meal, so you don’t have to pay extra for it. The quality of the food is not as good as Sumo, though, as far as the hibachi goes. Their sushi is comparable, though.<\/p>\n

The following day we went back to Harrah’s. We left an hour and a half earlier this time to ensure that we got into the tourney. I’m glad that we went because I took fourth and ended up making back the money I lost the day before. Go me!<\/p>\n

When we got back to Wichita, we stopped by mom and dad’s and met some new people. Apple and baby Zane were there, too. Anyway, that’s all for now. I still have to finish doing laundry. =P<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
