I remember back in my high school days in Las Pinas, my friends and I used to hang out at the local <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dunkindonuts.com\/\"  target=\"out\"><font color=\"#bb3300\">Dunkin Donuts<\/font><\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 We used to call it D<sup>2<\/sup> (read D-squared).\u00c2\u00a0 We were nerds like that.\u00c2\u00a0 We shared a lot of fun times there.\u00c2\u00a0 And even just watching my friend Mickey eat a whole box of munchkins (the little donut middles; I don&#8217;t know what they&#8217;re called, I just always called them munchkins).\u00c2\u00a0 I don&#8217;t even know if they make those anymore. <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.krispykreme.com\/\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" height=\"91\" hspace=\"5\" src=\"http:\/\/www.krispykreme.com\/images\/hotlighanim.gif\" width=\"110\" align=\"right\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a> Anyway, Brian and I will just have serious donut cravings from time to time and the generic grocery store variety ain&#8217;t cuttin&#8217; it anymore so we had to look for a good donut place.\u00c2\u00a0 Did you know that all the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dunkindonuts.com\/\"  target=\"out\"><font color=\"#bb3300\">Dunkin Donuts<\/font><\/a> in town have vanished?\u00c2\u00a0 I don&#8217;t know what is up with that..\u00c2\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t think they were that bad.\u00c2\u00a0 But I guess <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.krispykreme.com\/\"  target=\"out\"><font color=\"#bb3300\">Krispy Kreme<\/font><\/a> has ushered in a new era of donuts.\u00c2\u00a0 Shoot we really didn&#8217;t care where we got our kicks but I gotta admit <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.krispykreme.com\/\"  target=\"out\"><font color=\"#bb3300\">Krispy Kreme<\/font><\/a> has a lot of plusses. First off, the best time to go is right when they close (they used to be open 24 hours but I guess they didn&#8217;t find that profitable), from 10:30 to 11:00 PM.\u00c2\u00a0 Brian and I have found the few times that we&#8217;ve gone around this time that the red sign outside has been lit.\u00c2\u00a0 You know what that means.\u00c2\u00a0 Free donuts baby!\u00c2\u00a0 Well they give you a free glazed donut (pictured left) anyway.\u00c2\u00a0 Last night we had talked about just going through the drive-thru but when we got there the sign was lit and Brian got all excited.\u00c2\u00a0 He goes, let&#8217;s go in!\u00c2\u00a0<img hspace=\"5\" src=\"http:\/\/www.krispykreme.com\/images\/smallglazes.jpg\" align=\"left\" vspace=\"10\" \/> I gave in.\u00c2\u00a0 Who cared if I looked like crap from hanging out at the house all evening?\u00c2\u00a0 Free donuts is free donuts. Their store is actually pretty neat.\u00c2\u00a0 Brian and I discussed actually bringing our camera to take pictures next time we go.\u00c2\u00a0 Yeah, we&#8217;re real nerds like that.\u00c2\u00a0 But it&#8217;s so cool.\u00c2\u00a0 Have you ever seen a donut being manufactured before?\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s really neat!\u00c2\u00a0 You get to watch everything right there as it happens. <img hspace=\"5\" src=\"http:\/\/www.krispykreme.com\/images\/Varieties_r3_c3.jpg\" align=\"right\" \/> And then of course their donuts are the best!\u00c2\u00a0 When they opened their first store in town there were lines out the wazoo and I didn&#8217;t know what the fuss was all about.\u00c2\u00a0 To me, donuts were pretty much all the same.\u00c2\u00a0 But then I had their donuts, which are just melt-in-your-mouth (literally) delicious!\u00c2\u00a0 I was hooked ever since.\u00c2\u00a0 Our favorite is the chocolate-glazed custard-filled variety, shown right.\u00c2\u00a0 Brian and I are so compatible we even like the same kind of donut.\u00c2\u00a0 They have lots of other great flavors but this is the one that we always order.\u00c2\u00a0 We&#8217;ll eat the free donut of course but we only buy the chocolate-glazed custard-filled kind.
