I&#8217;m giving you a break from all the restaurant and food posts for a bit. To be fair, there&#8217;s not really much to report on the pickleball front as I am currently on my tournament sabbatical year. Unlike in the past when I was sharing my pickleball adventures from the nearly weekly pickleball tournaments I was playing in, I&#8217;m barely even playing recreationally these days. However, since we are putting together another mixed doubles mini tournament at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thepickleclubwichita.com\"  rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the Pickle Club<\/a> in a few weeks, I thought I should share the results of the series of mini tournaments that we held over the summer. <\/p>\n<p><BIG>Here are the some pictures of the winners from all three events&#8230;<\/BIG><\/p>\n<p><strong>July 6 &#8211; Men&#8217;s Doubles<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/ching\/53838974652\/\"  title=\"Men's Doubles Winners\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53838974652_55ee2f439a.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"Men's Doubles Winners\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>1st<\/strong> &#8211; Matt Dutton and Derek Pruett<\/li>\n<li><strong>2nd<\/strong> &#8211; Dan Chocron and Steve Alvarez<\/li>\n<li><strong>3rd <\/strong>&#8211; Kyle Manny and Joshua Schott <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>July 27 &#8211; Mixed Doubles<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/ching\/53885900508\/\"  title=\"Mixed Doubles Winners\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53885900508_ac2141ec91.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"Mixed Doubles Winners\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>1st<\/strong> &#8211; Susie Ternes and Ryan Kellenbarger<\/li>\n<li><strong>2nd<\/strong> &#8211; Julie Pauly and Zach Nguyen<\/li>\n<li><strong>3rd <\/strong>&#8211; Lena Quach and Fin Tatum<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>August 24 &#8211; Women&#8217;s Doubles<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/ching\/53945670498\/\"  title=\"Women's Doubles Winners\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53945670498_f9a30a80e3.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"Women's Doubles Winners\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>1st<\/strong> &#8211; Lacy Waugh and Lori Belew<\/li>\n<li><strong>2nd<\/strong> &#8211; Anna Le and Lena Quach<\/li>\n<li><strong>3rd <\/strong>&#8211; Jen Tiano and Monica McGehee<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For all three of these events, we limited sign ups to six teams max because there are only two courts at the Pickle Club. There would be way too much waiting around otherwise. The format was round robin pool play plus single elimination bracket with a bonus third place game for the losers of the semi-final round.<\/p>\n<p>Round robin games were one game to 11, win by 1 (to limit the wait). Each team played all the other teams so each team got five pool play matches. The single elimination bracket play format was best 2 of 3 games to 11, win by 2. Everyone got lots of play. All results were sent to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dupr.com\"  rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">DUPR<\/a> after the event so the events are great for building up your match history and DUPR rating reliability.<\/p>\n<p>These tournaments are a great value and specially since you get to pick your own partner (unlike the InPickle Nation mini tournaments that we have weekly). It a slightly different flavor. Anyway, highly recommend grabbing a partner and joining us for this one.
