{"id":234,"date":"2004-10-16T20:47:08","date_gmt":"2004-10-17T02:47:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brubakers.us\/blog\/?p=409"},"modified":"2004-10-16T20:47:08","modified_gmt":"2004-10-17T02:47:08","slug":"weekend-recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brubakers.us\/?p=234","title":{"rendered":"Weekend Recap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last weekend was a pretty good weekend &#8211; all things considered.\u00c2\u00a0 I tired to set aside time to study for my exams but I ended up procrastinating and procrastinating and not studying at all until the day of..\u00c2\u00a0 I spend so much time trying to set aside time to study and then afterwards trying to find other things to do in order to procrastinate and not have to study..\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s really pathetic.<\/p>\n<p>Friday&#8217;s procrastination distraction was Jen.<\/p>\n<p>She asked Brian and I to meet her and Ray at Philippine Grille and then go with them to Flashbacks.\u00c2\u00a0 Flashbacks is what used to be Bricktown 54.\u00c2\u00a0 Bricktown closed a while back and just reopened as Flashbacks the Thursday before last.<\/p>\n<p>I was in a bad mood from doing quite poorly on my ballroom dance final and I didn&#8217;t feel like studying so I agreed.\u00c2\u00a0 Much to Brian&#8217;s unhappiness.\u00c2\u00a0 But he was fine once we got to Flashbacks.\u00c2\u00a0 He says he doesn&#8217;t like to dance but whenever I dance with him he seems to really enjoy it.\u00c2\u00a0 And I mean, :really: enjoy it. Which is why we usually always have to leave so early..\u00c2\u00a0 Dancing is almost like foreplay to him.<\/p>\n<p>By the way, speaking of Flashbacks, the bouncer actually paid us a compliment.\u00c2\u00a0 Brian came from work and I had just come from my ballroom dance final (in which I was playing the guy part so I was wearing my old Express pants and matching vest; an all black outfit that I don&#8217;t think is really that great looking but quite flattering because it makes you look slimmer) so we were both looking pretty spiffy, I suppose.\u00c2\u00a0 The bouncer was like, &#8220;Thanks for dressing nice tonight.\u00c2\u00a0 We really appreciate it!&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 I almost busted up laughing because we didn&#8217;t even do it on purpose.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, it was almost an hour before we found Ray and Jen.\u00c2\u00a0 They didn&#8217;t freakin&#8217; walk around.\u00c2\u00a0 They just got there and sat at the bar and started drinking.\u00c2\u00a0 After a couple of drinks, we decided to walk around and look for them.\u00c2\u00a0 When we found them, Jen was all &#8220;There you guys are!\u00c2\u00a0 We thought you ditched us!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>On our way to look for Jen and Ray, though, I got paid another compliment.\u00c2\u00a0 I guess it&#8217;s a double-sided one.\u00c2\u00a0 It could be a diss or it could be a compliment?\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;d rather think of it as a compliment, though.\u00c2\u00a0 We were walking and all of a sudden this guy goes, &#8220;Hey!\u00c2\u00a0 I know you!&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 It was Kracker (one of our poker buddies; he used to DJ for 107.3 KKRD before they shut it down).\u00c2\u00a0 He was referring to Brian so I go, &#8220;But what about me?\u00c2\u00a0 Didn&#8217;t you recognize me?&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 He goes &#8220;Well, your hair is down and you&#8217;re well-dressed!&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 I guess that means I look like crap when I normally go to play poker.\u00c2\u00a0 But I&#8217;ll take that as a compliment.\u00c2\u00a0 LOL!<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of compliments, I had my facial at Individually Yours the following day and met Misty at Lancome for makeup application.\u00c2\u00a0 She had her ten year high school reunion that evening so she wanted to look her best.\u00c2\u00a0 I said I&#8217;d go with her for fun.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;d gone the week before and had my makeup done with Sarah and Jen at Origins (next stop MAC).\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m a total makeover whore these days!<\/p>\n<p>Linda, the Lancome rep who did my makeup was trying to make conversation..\u00c2\u00a0 And then she goes, &#8220;So where is your homecoming tonight?&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 I busted up laughing.\u00c2\u00a0 She explained that there had been quite a few high school girls getting their makeup done for homecoming earlier that day and she thought I was one of them.\u00c2\u00a0 Not sure what gave her the idea that I&#8217;m still in high school.\u00c2\u00a0 It must be my baby fat!\u00c2\u00a0 This could be taken as a diss as well but, again, I&#8217;ll take it as a compliment.<\/p>\n<p>That evening I went to ballroom dance to help Juan Carlos with his ballroom dance final.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m glad I went because it made up for my poor performance the night before.\u00c2\u00a0 Afterwards we went to Romano&#8217;s house to play some hold &#8217;em ($10 buyin).\u00c2\u00a0 Got third again!\u00c2\u00a0 I hate getting third because there is no money!\u00c2\u00a0 Ugh.
