{"id":136,"date":"2003-12-20T19:07:00","date_gmt":"2003-12-21T01:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brubakers.us\/blog\/?p=303"},"modified":"2003-12-20T19:07:00","modified_gmt":"2003-12-21T01:07:00","slug":"bowling-on-the-3650","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brubakers.us\/?p=136","title":{"rendered":"Bowling on the 3650"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On the way home Brian was telling me about this bowling game in his 3650.\u00c2\u00a0 He was bragging about his 204 high game and his 533 high series.\u00c2\u00a0 As you know, I&#8217;m a much better bowler than he is in real life so I felt very confident that beating his high scores would be a piece of cake.<\/p>\n<p>He gives me a run-down of the controls and I play the game all the way hom.\u00c2\u00a0 He&#8217;s only more than happy to let me play because this gets me out of his hair as I have this tendency to supervise as he drives which, it turns out, is very annoying to men and Brian is no exception.<\/p>\n<p>It takes me a couple of games (not frames, mind you &#8212; there are ten frames to a game, and it took me two games) to get the hang of the limited controls.\u00c2\u00a0 Once you get the hang of it, though, it&#8217;s not too bad.\u00c2\u00a0 Nothing like real life, but not too bad considering it lets you move the ball from the left to right, adjust the speed\/strength of your throw, set the aim and put a spin or hook before you throw.\u00c2\u00a0 The challenging part is that all of this is donen through one button.\u00c2\u00a0 LOL!\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s not that bad really.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, we get to the house and I still haven&#8217;t beaten his score.\u00c2\u00a0 He&#8217;s laughing at my persistence and egging me on by saying I should just give up because I will never beat his scores.\u00c2\u00a0 To add insult to injury, the phone beeps &#8220;low bat&#8221; on me.\u00c2\u00a0 If you think this is the end of it, think again.\u00c2\u00a0 It takes more than this to stop a determined person such as myself.<\/p>\n<p>I get home, plug the phone in and continue playing.\u00c2\u00a0 An hour later, sweaty palms and everything, I&#8217;m still playing.\u00c2\u00a0 A lesser person would&#8217;ve given up long ago.\u00c2\u00a0 But no, not I.\u00c2\u00a0 I finally bowled a 226 toppling his puny 203 game.\u00c2\u00a0 Thank God for it too because my thumb was getting really tired and my back was starting to ache for being hunched over for so long.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You&#8217;ve yet to beat my high series!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I bowled a 226 game!\u00c2\u00a0 Beating your 533 high series, should be chicken feed.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I play a couple of games to no avail.\u00c2\u00a0 I tell him, calculate the average per game for a 533 series so I at least know what I&#8217;m shooting for.\u00c2\u00a0 He does and it&#8217;s a meager 177.\u00c2\u00a0 This boosts my confidence and sure enough within ten minutes I produced a 535 series.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s only two pins more than his high series score but it&#8217;s good enough for me.\u00c2\u00a0 I can rest now.<\/p>\n<p>I suppose you could glean from what you have just read that stubborness runs in our family also, but there are more positive qualities at work here; like perseverance and determination and hard work.. \u00c2\u00a0 Man, I really need a life!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On the way home Brian was telling me about this bowling game in his 3650.\u00c2\u00a0 He was bragging about his 204 high game and his 533 high series.\u00c2\u00a0 As you know, I&#8217;m a much better bowler than he is in real life so I felt very confident that beating his high scores would be a [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[9,20],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/brubakers.us\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/136"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/brubakers.us\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/brubakers.us\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/brubakers.us\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/brubakers.us\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=136"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/brubakers.us\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/136\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/brubakers.us\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=136"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/brubakers.us\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=136"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/brubakers.us\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=136"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
