One of my Leadership Wichita classmates who was a Kansas Air National Guard captain was promoted to colonel. No kidding. We were actually checked three times going to the event. We felt pretty darn special. <\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/ching\/21758935010\/in\/dateposted-public\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"   title=\"Untitled\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/farm6.staticflickr.com\/5816\/21758935010_c1d0aef195.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" class=\"pic\" alt=\"Untitled\"><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The ceremony was very formal and impressive. Col. David Weishaar is amazing so I know the promotion was earned and well-deserved. <strong>Congratulations Col. I&#8217;m not sure how we got invited to it but we did. Anyway, it was really cool. It&#8217;s my first time attending a YMCA dedication. <\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/ching\/21858309809\/in\/dateposted-public\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"   title=\"Untitled\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/farm6.staticflickr.com\/5678\/21858309809_31802ae2a7.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" class=\"pic\" alt=\"Untitled\"><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>This one also happened to be an annual celebration where they recognized several people &#8212; volunteers, coaches &#8212; with awards.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/ching\/22055148971\/in\/dateposted-public\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"   title=\"Untitled\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"pic\" src=\"https:\/\/farm1.staticflickr.com\/667\/22055148971_f6f9af0162.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"Untitled\"><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>I often hear how we have the best YMCA facilities in the nation. It&#8217;s because the people of the Greater Wichita Area are amazing. Period. I am beyond thrilled for all of the awards recipients who were recognized at the event. <\/p>\n<p>Speaking of events, we are kicking off the YMCA Annual Campaign. I was told that only 7% of members actually donate\/support the campaign.
