Heading Out to the Gym this Morning
Posted on July 17, 2010 by Ching under Health.
I think Brian was a little grumpy. We were both up late last night and I think he didn’t expect to be going anywhere at 8:30 AM. Hey, I didn’t force him to come with me. He decided to accompany me to the gym on his own accord.
He’s convinced that he doesn’t have a choice, though. He told me that I would have made him miserable the entire day if he decided to stay in. Whatever.
So I offered him a compromise. I told him he could have one opt out per month. He could have one weekend off when he doesn’t have to go to the gym with me.
He was like, “Just one weekend?”
“There’s only four weekends in a month!” I replied and then asked, “Do you not want to go at all?”
“I was actually hoping for a 50-50 split so I could have two weekends off.”
I think it’s mostly my Saturday morning workouts that he dislikes. Brian is not a morning person at all. I think my enthusiasm and cheerfulness early in the morning just bugs the crap out of him.
I can’t help but be chipper, though. While he’s groggy because he’s just waking up, I’d already been up for at least a couple of hours so all of my grogginess has worn off. All that’s left is my eager anticipation of what the day holds.
Although, there are days that I annoy myself. For instance, I really wish I could have slept in until eight o’clock. My body just likes to wake me up at six, no matter if it’s the weekend and I’ve been up until the wee hours of the morning the day before.
The annoyance doesn’t ever linger, though. As soon as I see the sun shining outside, I’m overcome with happiness and gratitude. We are so blessed to be able to enjoy another wonderful day filled with activity and excitement. Like beating Brian 15-5, 15-4 in two straight games of racquetball. That just made my day!
P.S. Check out the Andover fire fighters playing racquetball this morning.
