Ambitious Undertakings

Posted on February 22, 2006 by under School.

Ambitious undertakings: two words one should always stay away from. Seriously. I’m not kidding. I got my first CS 300 exam back the other day. I got a C. This is actually pretty good considering I am struggling in that class. If this was any other class, I would probably be on the verge of suicide. I’m sure you’re tired of my suicide threats, though. You heard enough about them last sem when I took my final Accounting class. You’d think that after my horrific Fall 2005 sem experience with trying to complete my Accounting minor, I’d know better than to try for yet another minor. Label be stubborn and pig-headed. Okay, perhaps not stubborn and pig-headed but just foolish. How about that? Foolish is probably more appropriate. I wish I wouldn’t have made the Dean’s List last sem. It gave me misplaced confidence. After overcoming that last Accounting class (and yes, Jen, Accounting sucks away your soul), I just thought I could conquer anything. How wrong I was! Now I’m experiencing the same, should-I-stay-or-should-I-go blues in CS 300. I want my CS minor, though. Tough decision. Maybe I should give it another week before making a decision? Procrastination rears its ugly head yet again.

Our Morning Ritual

Posted on February 20, 2006 by under Life.

I think my favorite time of day has got to be the half hour between 6:00 and 6:30 am. Six o’clock is when the alarm clock buzzes for the first time and Brian stirs from his sleep. We both kind of shift groggily from the sides of the bed that we have tossed and turned to through the night. He turns facing me (he sleeps on the left side of the bed and I sleep on the right) to hit the snooze button and I turn to face him. I then snuggle my way closer to rest my head on his shoulder and burry my face in his chest. After hitting the snooze button he pulls me closer with his arm and embraces me as I embrace him back. We lay in bed, cuddled together, enjoying each other’s warmth just like this for about half an hour, past several buzzes (the alarm is set to buzz every seven minutes I think) until about 6:30 or sometimes even 6:45 am. It’s so hard to get up in the morning in the winter time. Even harder when there’s a warm body laying next to you. And tougher still when it’s Presidents Day and he doesn’t have to get up.

The Animated Kama Sutra

Posted on February 18, 2006 by under Sex.

Here’s an interesting web site that I came across this evening while waiting for Brian to get tired of playing his new game addiction, World of Warcraft.. It’s the Kama Sutra, Animated! I have the book somewhere but we put it away several months (maybe a couple of years) back and now I can’t find it. Of course, who needs the book when the animated version is now available online?

No Free Rides Here

Posted on February 16, 2006 by under Games.

This is a picture of Brian after beating me at racquetball. He had no choice but to win because World of Warcraft was at stake. Just like in life, there are no free rides here. Brian told me today that he wants to start playing World of Warcraft because all of his geeky buddies at work are playing it. The game costs $50 and it’s going to cost $200 a year in addition to that because of the montly service fee. Obviously, this is going to be a much larger expense than we are prepared to tackle. Specially after having paid a huge sum of money to Uncle Sam. I mean, I wouldn’t even let him get Ogame Commander back in our Ogame playing days. And that was only $3 a month!

Not wanting to just say no out-right, I posed the following challenge: beat me at racquetball today and you can have your game for one year. Once the year is up, we will have to reevaluate naturally. Anyway, I was pretty confident that I would win. I failed to take desperation into account, though.

Brian gave it his all and took me to the third game. He beat me 15-13. I cannot whine, because he beat me fair and square. Some of his strategies were questionable, but what can you do? He is desperate.

I hope he enjoys his game because now we don’t have any grocery money! Someone donate to us!

Five Years Ago

Taking an Ice Cream Break

Time just flies by.. It seems like only yesterday we were living in our townhouse at Cross Creek. This photo was taken five years ago when we were moving out of the townhouse and into our house. The house we live in now that we absolutely hate.

Anyway, I thought I’d post this picture in honor of Richard. We actually heard from him last night. He called out of nowhere to check up on us. He is just so thoughtful.

It’s funny because he fell for Brian’s tricky voicemail. It goes like this:

“Hello?” [long pause]

“Ha! Fooled you! Leave a message after the beep.”

So in the meantime you’re yapping away like you’re talking to a person only to find out that you’re actually talking to the voicemail. Brian’s voicemail message doesn’t say who it is, so Richard was kind of worried that he got the wrong number. I guess, the clever voicemail message must have thrown him off (no offense, babe; you know I’m only joking).

So he proceeds to say that he is leaving a message for his friend Brian but he isn’t sure if this is the right phone number. He even says Brian’s last name for good measure. He sounded so unsure that Brian decided to mess with him.

So when Brian called him up Brian began with, “Yeah. Someone called me from this number?”

Richard responded apologetically, “Sorry about that. I was trying to reach my friend Brian but I think I dialed the wrong number.”

Brian was tempted to mess with him more but just could not contain himself so he gave himself up. Richard was a little confused and didn’t believe him at first. So Brian added, “Ching is sitting right here. You want to talk to her?”

I guess Richard didn’t recognize Brian’s voice. He recognized mine, though. After he heard my voice, he realized he really did dial the correct number and we were just messing around.

Although, he didn’t find the prank as hilarious as when I told him that I’d fallen for Brian’s stupid voicemail message twice. Yeah, I was actually blonde in a past life. I hate his voicemail message!
